Purity of NOS?

I was wandering if anyone knows the purity of regular NOS that comes from a performance shop. I was wandering because I work at a gas company and we have all types of gas even nitrous oxide, its purity is 99.5 - 100.0 % pure, its medical grade. Someone told me that the medical grade nitrous is better for your car, then I heard that its to pure. If anyone knows this please let me know.

Thanks

If you do a "search" on the web, you will find numerous suppliers of N2O, ranging in purity from 98.0% to 99.9995%. Interestingly, its a "medical" grade I found that shows the low of 98%, with allowable impurities being mainly CO2, CO, higher oxides of nitrogen and H2O... all of which are "inert". Laboratory, or research grade is available at 99.9995%, with only 2ppm of N2 and 2ppm of O2.

Other typical analyses are in the 99.5% range, with primarily oxygen and nitrogen as the impurities. Of course the "racing" product will have 50-100ppm of sulfur dioxide in it.

In any case, once you get above 99%, you are "tilting at windmills".... the impurities can not affect you by more that 1%, or 1.5 HP on a 150-shot. Just bump the bottle pressure up a few psi to increase the flow by 1%.
