Pump Gas Nitrous
How much juice is safe with pump gas? Will compression change the ammount of nitrous you are able to run on pump gas?
I have an 8.6:1 383 blower motor in my garage: 4-bolt, all forged, ARP hardware, o-ringed with iron heads. EFI is expensive and so is turbo plumbing; blowers are blatant. Considering nitrous.

I don't recommend spraying on pump gas. Just spend the extra couple dollars and run racing fuel. When I'm down on cash, I run a 50/50 mixture of 100 octane 76 racing fuel and premium and it works good. Racing fuel helps prevent detonation. Lower compression helps a little, but ignition timing is waht makes the big difference.

Moser 12 bolt soon.

not sure on your app there, but with my stock lt1 (internally) i run 93-94 and hit it with 150 dry kit. seems to run pretty dfecent and not knock too much more than usual (could be my exhaust). never hurt to run the expensive gas.

Here is an off the wall idea.....Just bump your timing down and not worry about it!!!! 1 degree for every 25 horses and you can run 93 octane all day long. Just a thought.
Remember.....Do it the right way and you will have a running car in the future

Is the 8.6:1 compression ratio going to help with detonation or am I completely missing the boat on horsepower? The motor has iron heads so 9.5:1 is like the highest recommended with pump gas.
I was thinking with compression this low, it'd be hard to make the thing detonate (I'm sure I can but it'd be more of a task than with 12:1 CR).
The problem with running race gas is I want to drive this car, and I live in California (which makes it hard to come by).

Your right on track. I'm spraying 250 with approx 9.5:1 383 on pump gas, only pulling out 4 deg of timing. Course I'm running alum LT1 heads, but I'm sure you could do the same with iron heads and 8.5:1. If you go up to 300 or more, I'd play it safe and throw in some race gas though.
