which octane to use?

i have an 02 3.8, just installed a NX wet kit (jetted at 50 right now). im not spraying yet, i need to finish up the window switch and some other small things, but should i start using 93? (or 91, i dont know what i can get here). it hasnt been tuned yet, should i wait till its tuned?

Re: which octane to use?

Run whatever your high grade premium is. 91 or 93. Whichever. If your at a low altitude, you'll probably have 93 vs 91 at higher altitude areas. If your gonna get it tuned, then you should probably pull a degree or 2 of timing since i'm sure you'll go higher then a 50 shot at some point. You should get it tuned though before you spray to make sure you have a good A/F ratio while spraying. Start with jetting on the rich side then tune it in from there. You should also probably go a step colder on spark plugs also. Like an NGK TR6.

I heard that you want to retard your timing 2* for every 50 HP you do. There are it's limits though. I'll talk to Madz28.com and see what he says.
