NOS setup, what do you pros think???
Well, I'd like to think I'm halfway to having this whole kit installed, but I want to do things right, and that means SAFE! so, where should I go from here? I have installed the NOS #5176 "dry" kit. Everything is according to the book. Now, what should I do as far as safety provisions. I have 8mm Taylor wires, an MSD 6AL, and will get colder plugs, but what about a controller, fuel pressure safety switch, also, who has info for that throttle position switch, I hate the damn little microswitch NOS gives ya. Anyone got any answers??? Thanks.
A fpss is a must on a wet kit, but not sure how important in a dry kit. The NX elec. throttle switch is nice, moniters tps voltage and is adjustable, it does add a relay and some wiring. I think a controller is the way to go, start the run with a small hit so you have some traction and build up to the full hit, I'm using a Schnitz time based unit.
The weak point of the 5176 is the way it controls fuel pressure. Hence, I would definitely go for a FPSS, set as high as you can get it. And I would recommend a fuel pressure gauge.
What are you doing about spark retard? Do you have any way to monitor the computer... e.g. ScanMaster?
NOS offers the 5176-EO kit..... it comes with an electonic WOT switch, a wiring harness for the switch and a nice little CARB-EO sticker to satisfy your local emissions types. I believe you can buy the "EO" parts as an upgrade for your kit.
For consistancy, a bottle heater and a nitrous pressure gauge. And, depending on how it hits, possibly a purge kit. Obviously these are "performance" items rather than "safety".

I consider an electric bottle opener a VITAL safety item.
One day on the freeway, after wasting a Mustang
, my N2O solenoid stuck open, but thanks to my bottle opener, all was well. I would have been in deep doodoo without it!!!

Well, that's the kind of feedback I'm looking for. I'm in the midst of accquiring a fuel pressure safety switch. One came with my Jacob's Nitrous Mastermind, but it's a 6 psi switch, not for fuel injection guys. As for the timing retard, the Jacob's unit should take care of that. Also, I do have fuel and nitrous gauges, I'm probably just gonna rig up the NOS WOT microswitch till I get around to getting the NX switch.
Now, someone explain to me exactly why I'd need a purge kit.

If your running dry I dont belive a purge is needed...but the shot will not hit as hard the first time you hit the nitrous after opening the bottle.(in other words your purging into the engine so to speak).
On a wet kit the kit supplies extra fuel immediently so the nitrous needs to be there also to avoid fouling plugs and stumble(still not much of a problem if N2O pressure is @ 900+ psi).
