NItrous motor running N/A. No POWER!!
NItrous motor running N/A. No POWER!!
Well fist i was thinking maybe my distributer is bad, then we go ahead and decide, yes my open chamber heads suck, but something is still wrong. Now, my heads flow ~ 280/230 at my lift. My cam is 274/292 .519"/.534" comp NX274, and i weight in at a hefty 4340lbs when i raced. Now I havent gotten on a dyno yet, but i keep getting beat by my friends DSM. He's running @ 13psi, homemade cold air intake, and a 2 1/2" upper intercooler pipe. Now i'm assuming that this is becuase i've got a very nitrous built motor and i have WWWAAAAYYYYY too much exhaust flow to make any N/A torque, Am i right, or does it sound like something else is wrong, providing that i know there is still about 15-20 hp in my carb tuning. Cause i;m realy getting f***ing frustrated cause this motor isn't making me any power, and i dont have nitrous yet (3 wks), so... AHHHH. I;m just pissed, cause it seems like i spent $4500 building a turd. Is this normal...
First off....
First off, don't be fooled by the "too much exhaust or exhaust is too big" theory. If that was the case, you'd see top fuel dragsters running 1 5/8" headers with mufflers. Right off the bat from reading your post, I see a 4300lb N/A tank going up against probably a barely 3300lb DSM with some healty boost. Power to weight ratio there. You have him by probably 1000lbs. If you figure it's about a tenth of a second per 100lbs, if you guys were running the same exact HP, he'd already have you beat by a second in the 1/4, and thats quite a few car lengths. Your gonna need a lot of horses to move your hot rod vs him not needing a whole lot to move himself out. Figure he's probably running between 250 to 300 hp (just a guess), and he's got a lot less to move. You really need to get to a dyno if you can and see what kind of power you making. That will tell the story. Maybe you don't have a good head/cam combo. That will kill you also. Bigger is not always better when it comes to that. It's how efficient everything works together. My opinion though.

Definitely a possibility. You could have way too much exhaust PORT compared to the intake. There is a local guy here, honest to god, his car runs low 13s, high 12s on motor. On the gas it runs low 10s, high 9s. Its a nitrous motor though. It is a race car, and made to run at the track. Sure, you could drive it on the street, but it wouldnt be too fun.
