Which ignition components needed to retard?

I want to run a 150 shot, so I know I will have to retard the timming. what are the basic components needed and what is the complete package for the ultimate ignition? MSD or Accel?

The MSD digital 6 is nice. But there's another ignition out there that has retard and a built in window switch. Can't remember which one though.Hopefully someone will chime in.
Or you could go oldschool and get a 6-AL and a retard box. It works just fine also.

Acutally there is not a ignition box on the market for Ls1 cars that will retard the timing at will. You will have to get your pcm custom programmed to run on it. Looking at your sig you are slightly modded over stock. NX kits are manaufactured to run up to 150 shots on cars with out the need for a retard or race gas. HTH

I don't see anything but the rev limiter listed in the hyfire IV secs, and thats only on the 685AL. there are a few others with retard, rev limiters, and window switches...such as the MSD Digital 6-Plus

The Mallory 685 is the best bang for the buck out there. Built in rev limiter, start retard, window switch. No stupid pills either, everything is adjusted on the box via a digital display. All for $220, you have to buy three MSD boxes to get the same functionality. There is a pic of it on my website, check it out.

Which Hyfire VI is that? I know you said 685, but there are a couple versions. The ones they list in summit don't show all those features...

Also, I was checking it out here (one that looks to have all the features you mention) and there is a warning at the bottom about it not working with distributorless ignitions. Does it have any trouble interfacing with the opti?

I already have an MSD window switch.
Smoke T/A what do you mean your have to custom tune the computer, and everyone I talk to runs timming retard on the 150 NX wet shot?

Here it is http://www.centuryperformance.com/de...uct_id=MAL-685

BTW I used to have MSD too, I sold it. Why use three different ignition boxes when you can use one? I sold my MSD for $75 so the Mallory only cost me $150 out of pocket

Also it works fine with the Opti, I plugged it right in to my MSD coil adapter, fired right up.

I have the MSD Digital-7 plus with MSD Pro Power HVC coil. It has built in retard for single stage of nitrous activated thru solenoid or rpm switch. I have used MSD in the past and have had very good luck with there box's.

I have a separate "nitrous program" I use at the track when running the full 150hp shot and another for the street, where I run just 50hp. The first has 4-5degrees of retard, the second has none. Of course, I am running both N2O and the SC. Without the blower, I am not sure if the retard would be needed. I would do it anyway, since a motor is a terrible thing to waste.

Here is a quote taken directly from the NX website FAQ
Q. Should I change my ignition system in any way (timing, plugs, etc.)?
A. All NX Stage One or Street systems are designed to operate with no timing retard. Spark plugs should be changed to non-platinum style, 1 to 2 steps colder than stock.
Don't belive every thing you hear. Far as the computer there is not a after market igniton box being a MSD 7al or whatever that will hook up to your car (LS1) and retard the timing when you run on nitrous. Like Rich said you will have to have a diffrent program for on the n20 if you want to retard the timing. But judging from the statment from NX all you need is colder plugs no need to retard the timing.
