Nitrous Friendly cam??(tried searching)
Nitrous Friendly cam??(tried searching)
I have a 240/240 .595/.595 112lsa cam in my forged 383. Some people are stating this cam is not n20 friendly, is that true? From What I have researched, everyone says pick a good NA cam, then spray it..Any suggestions?
Re: Nitrous Friendly cam??(tried searching)
For a nitrous cam, you generally want a lot more duration on the exhaust, because of the huge increase in exhaust volume. The nitrous can get into the cylinders without a lot of duration, but the exhaust needs more duration to get out. Couple that with the fact that the NA LT1 seems to like at least 6-degrees more on the exhaust side, and a single pattern cam would seem to be "not N2O friendly". Some of this could be tempered a bit if your heads flow really well on the exhaust side.
Additionally, you want to minimize overlap, so the nitrous doesn't just blow through the cylinder when both valves are open. This is helped by a wider lobe seperation angle. I run a 230/242 114LSA 0.590/0.590 solid roller.

I see. So is would it be not wise if I were to put a n20 kit on the car? Realistically, if it is not going to give me all what n20 is suppose to, I am kinda "spinning my wheels" and defeating the purpose of n20, correct? By the way, that cam you are running, sounds really nice, is that a custom grind, or does someone make that? Thanks Fred...
