Cool New to nitrous, need your suggestions, thoughts facts etc.

I have a few nitrous questions for you guys. First of all, I will be converting a nitrous kit for use temporarily in my car. It will be borrowed from a buddy until his car is done.

First off the kit is a direct port kit for a cobra, so I will change the setup. I'll just use one solenoid(or two for a wet shot) and spray somewhere in the intake tract.

At this point I'm not sure of whether I want to make this a wet or dry shot. If I do a dry shot, will the 90* turn in the intake elbow after the MAF sensor rob some power?? We put nitrous on my buddies LS1 and it shoots directly into the throttle body. Also, what size are the stock injectors and how much of a dry shot can I safely run with my mods. I don't think I want to shoot more than a 100 shot, just to be safe. I was planning on running octane booster as well when I spray, just to be safe, is this necessary??

Assuming I use a wet shot, is there anything to look out for?? If I do this I was planning on going to the junkyard and getting an intake elbow I could put holes in. How should I set up the nozzles. As far as tapping into the fuel rail and using lines we I can set all that up.

Last question, when I put my headers on I replaced the stock plugs with the same kind. Will these plugs be ok for nitrous temporarily. I probably won't use nitrous for more than two months at the most.

BTW I will be using a window switch. Other than that I'll have a master arm switch and a pushbotton to activate the nitrous.

Any others tips, comments or suggestions are welcomed!!!

John

I also thought I'd through these questions out to you guys, this is copied from an AIM conversation with the guy that owns the kit(the one I'll be borrowing):

1) How much can I run without going into the computer (i.e. timing retard)? I'm thinking 100 to 125 easy.

2) Placin the fogger nozzle (Sportsman version) just before the Throttle body, any issues here?

3) Can my stock fuel pump and lines handle the extra requirement of the 100 to 125 shot (wet)? I'll be tapping into the fuel pressure shrader valve for the fuel supply.

Thanks again.

I would go the wet route. Remove the shrader valve core and tap the fuel there. Go with a 100 shot on the stock fuel system with a fuel pressure safety switch and you shouldnt have to pull timing(you may have to though).

You need to try and get as striaght a shot as possible into the intake from the nozzle.....I drilled out my aftermarket resinator plug and tapped it in there....the IAT hole is another good place .

Go with at least one step colder copper plugs like NGK TR6 or Autolite 104. Dont use platinum plugs.

Dont waste your time with the octane boost. If you have some detonation pull timing or use higher octane fuel.

If you go dry , I would do no more than a 75 shot with the stock injectors. Im not really that up on the dry kits though.

Remember....do it right even if its only for a couple of months because it only takes 1 run on a bad setup to kill your engine.
