I have no regrets even though I cracked a piston with it. I had a plan B from the get go.....if I broke it I would stroke it and do forged internals. Now I am spraying my forged 383 and life is good

How did you crack it and how much of shot were you spraying?
How many miles were on your car and how many bottles did u go through before it..

Im still deciding the nitrous route for myself

On the topic note...the only regret I have is not getting a bigger kit the first time. Have fun either way. Nothing beats the feeling of instant HP....and more important TQ.
would you consider the basic NX kit (dont know the part #...i think its jettable from 50-150 or somethin like that) a good starter kit?

also ive heard that the advertised hp gains of different jets usually dont match up with what you actually get. for example spraying w/ the 100hp jet(s) in the NX kit, on a dyno would i see around about 100hp increase, or 85+ish. you guys follow me i dont think i explained that correctly?

First let me say my system had/has all the safety stuff(fpss, window switch, bottle heater, ect). I monitor track runs via datamaster.

Engine had about 60000miles on it and I had run 10 or 12 bottles thru it before the number 1 ring land broke. I wasnt running datamaster at the time and I wasnt at the track.... I just playn around on a backroad near my house.

NX is one of the most used/proven kits out there for our cars. It is a very good starter kit, i'd just recommend a few things on top of the basic stuff. Also, yes some kits are jetted differently and produce different rear wheel #'s, but the NX usually produces 100 rear wheel or slightly more with the 100 shot. Torque increases tremendously more then 100.

With the basic kit, if you are going 100 shot get some colder plugs, tr6's are good, a window switch, a bottle heater, and a ignition system is not a bad idea. Also, run premium fuel if you are not going to pull timing, which you shouldn't with a small 100 shot.

Anybody have a listing of the approximate hp/torque #'s for each shot with the NX kit? I wanted to know how much power each shot is making...(75, 100, 125, 150 jets). Thanks.

They make just about what what they are rated for. There is a misconception (which the kit manufacturers do nothing to dispel) that one manufacturers kit is better than another because "our 100hp kit makes more hp than their 100hp kit". That's nutty. Without getting into fine points, the amount of hp a given combo will gain is essentially proportional to the amount of nitrous injected. This is, in turn, a function of jet size and bottle pressure. Yes, there is more to it than that. But it's not a bad generalization.

So, as far as hp gains, don't even think in terms of the hp number attached to a specific manufacturers kit. Think in terms of jet size and bottle pressure.

Ditto the remarks about needing a window switch and bottle heater in addition to the "basics". I also think a pressure gauge is very useful.

Ok, yeah, I always wondered about that because NX always claimed that their kit was making a little more than the established HP #'s. How bout' torque though? I have no idea how much torque each shot is suppose to be making.. any ifo on that? Should I email them for that info?

Nitrous makes a ridiculous amount of low end torque, but it will vary by vehicle setup.
