LT1 NOS system

My friend has the Holley LT1 NOS system.....

First question.

We can't get the fuel pump booster on. the fuel line from the gas tank WILL NOT attach to the tube that goes to the fuel pump booster, it's impossible, it keeps slipping off (whoever designed this kit is an idiot).

We just said forget the fuel pump booster, since so many other people run nitrous on the stock fuel system. Is this ok?

2nd question. We have already installed the jet into the intake elbow. Now my friend want's to know if we should put the jet before the MAF so it can compensate and add more fuel? will this kill the MAF sensor?

Is this the 5176 dry kit? If so, you need the pump. That's how it adds the extra fuel. The nitrous line from the blue pressure regualtor to the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line increases the rail pressure to 85-90psi when you spray. Stock pump isn't going to give you that kind of pressure and flow enough for a 125-150 shot. The injectors flow up to 45% extra fuel, to support the nitrous. That's why you want the nitrous nozzle AFTER the MAF, because is doesn't need the MAF signal to increase fuel flow.

I think I answered your question on the booster pump install in another thread..... if you have all the parts listed in the NOS manual, and if you follow the manual correctly, I can't see why all the parts don't just connect. I installed two of these kits, and they were straight forward and simple.

Injuneer, yes you already answered this question. We still can't figure out why it won't work. I will try to take pictures of it and show you why it wont fit.

Here's what you said in the other thread:

"You take the inlet connetor off the filter - that's the one with the little plastic clip you need to squeeze to uncouple. You use part #26, GM "fitting" (the plastic clip fitting) to barbed hose. The barbed end then goes into a rubber hose, which goes to the pump inlet. Are you saying the GM "fitting" end of part #26 does not match the connector on the plastic line that you are trying to connect it to?

That is the only place that the inline pump install requires you to connect to a plastic fuel line. The #26 fitting should look identical to the connection on the inlet side of the fuel filter. The plastic hose should connect to the fitting, with the plastic spring clip, in the same way the fuel filter did.

All the other connections are made with the rubber hose supplied with the 5176 kit."

specifically, this--

"Are you saying the GM "fitting" end of part #26 does not match the connector on the plastic line that you are trying to connect it to?"

Yes. We put part #26 into the plastic fuel line, and it just slides right out. It's like they wern't even made to go together.

Info on the car: 1995 TA. Our thinking was that the NOS kit was made only for the 93 LT1, because in the pictures we noticed that it had no MAF. We just figured that they changed the fuel filter connections when they went from 93 to 94-97. is this wrong? this kit can fit any LT1? I will see if my friend wants to take my fuel line off my fuel filter (95 z28) just to see if mine is different.

Also, in this thread - http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...hlight=LT1+NOS

the third guy says he runs the same kit without the inline pump and it works just fine..... so will it work?

The manual happens to show a 93, but the kit fit fine, including all the fuel pump install parts on my 94. I have never seen an LT1 that didn't look exactly the same at the fuel filter.

The guy that says he is running a 100-shot with no inline pump is also NOT using the 5176 kit. He is using the 5115 kit, which is the NOS "stage 1" dry kit for the Mustang, and it rated at 70-100HP. I have no idea what that kit uses to add the extra fuel, but it isn't going to be the same as the 5176. And even on the Mustang, when you go over 100HP with that kit, NOS upgrades it to the 5115-II kit, and includes an inline fuel pump.

If you spray, you have to add extra fuel. There are people that have run the LT1 through the MAF, and claim it has worked. But
there is no reason the kit you bought shouldn't work with the car you're trying to put it on, they way it was designed. Have you called NOS to make sure they included the correct connector part in the kit?

Is the clear plastic retaining clip still in the stock plastic fuel line connector?
