Keith Black HYP.pistons and spray...

Anyone here sprayed a motor using Keith Black Hyper pistons? I mentioned putting a 125 shot on my motor and had one guy say these pistons are very delicate and wouldnt take it. I thought the Hyper's were stronger than cast...we sprayed a stock 350 for 2 years with a 150 shot with no problem. Anyone had any experiences with these pistons?

You could call KB, but I suspect they would work fine.

They are beyond fine. My buddy just sprayed a hyper piston with 200 and went 10.26 on Sunday. Not even as good a piston as Keith Black. Not even close. Avoid detonation by using good gas and pulling timing.

Sweet, thanks guys. Just wanted a little reassurance. Im never planning on going over 150 shot may never go over 125. Thanks again.

My cousin has used these pistons on his camaro and was only spraying a 125 shot, and after about a year of spraying he finally burnt through one, so I would call Keith Black just to make sure

Remember any hypereutectic piston is just a cast piston "super saturated" with silicon. KB has very specific ring gapping instructions for nitrous use. At least go to their site and make note of their spec. The head of their pistons retain more heat than normal and cause the rings to expand more with heat. Detonation is the enemy.
