Importance of fuel pressure to jet size?
Importance of fuel pressure to jet size?
I am currently running the factory 24# injectors at 60 psi which makes them seem like ~29# injectors and my duty cycle is in the low 80% range. How is this increase in fuel pressure going to affect my NX wet kit?
I do have a set of SVO 42# injectors that I could install but haven't yet because I don't think I need them.
My major mods are:
CC306 cam
Modern Musclecar Ported heads & intake 1.6 roller rockers(285/215@0.600
)
BBK 58mm TB
Hooker LT 3" Y-pipe Spintech muffler
McLeod Street Twin
Denny's Nitrous Ready Driveshaft
Moser 12 bolt
Racetronix GS340 intank fuel pump.
(current best of 12.48@111.90)
What do you nitrous guru's think I should do? I plan on starting with 50hp shot to get used to it and then move upwards.

it depends if your pump can handle the increased demand. You have 60psi and when u spray the wet, it will shoot the extra fuel into the intake, it doens't care wut kinda injectors u have. THe thing is, I'm pretty sure the NX ppl have set the fuel jets for a stock fuel psi, so what this means is that at higher psi u will get more fuel then needed. So, if your pump can handle the demand(which it looks like it will) you will run rich. I would get a scanner and do some logs, put in a smaller fuel jets incrementally on spray and see where your best A/F ratio is. Good luck.
If the nirtrous kit your using is a dry kit if I understood the post correctly it would be in your best intreast to switch over to the SVO injector. Reason why is because with a dry kit as soon as the kit becomes armed the fuel psi will more than dbl. The stock GM injector will only last for so long and will eventually fail and lockup. GM never intended to have 80 to 90 psi running thru them. I know atleast two guys that lost motors because of this. The GM injector may work awhile under the higher psi but direct from NOS they will even tell you that it is recommended to switch to the SVO injector becuase of its design and strong coil used. If you check back on post you will hear of guys having stock injectors lockup on them especially if the injector has some millage on it.
Make the switch $200.00 is better than say $5000.00 or so for new short block and repaired cylinder chambers.
Good Luck!
