... someone how hasn't run N2O in the past, all of a sudden DOUBLING his HP and TQ. My guess is a ride into the wall at a high rate of speed! N2O (high dosages) need not be taken lightly!
ALWAYS work your way UP the ladder. Believe me, YOU CAN feel 25 HP increases in jetting. N2O... Ya gotta RESPECT it!

I never intended to actually run a 300 shot on my stock car. all I knew is boom would happen, I wanted to know what that boom consisted of.
but a 200 shot I would try. but for sure not my first or second or third tank, maybe at the end of the season when I've got 10 or so under my belt I'll try it, maybe go for the 225 if I'm feeling lucky.
It's all about cylinder pressures and heat.. too much and stuff starts melting.
Providing the motor is in excellent shape, and you are running 100 octane gas (gotta take care of the hypercraptic pistons),and you have enough fuel, and the timing retard right, and the proper heat range plugs, and a hot enough ignition, you *might* get away with it. Crank and rods will handle it, weak link is the pistons.. they just do not tolerate any kind of preignition or detonation..
But mess any of the above up, and
result of leaning out the fuel on a 100 shot.. thanks to crappy install of in line pump by a shop around here.. see my homepage for more!

... You are MUCH smarter then I originally assumed!!
You have the right attitude!! Go SLOW and learn how your car reacts to N2O. Oh, bu the way... I'm still just running a 50 shot, but...
I'm working on other bugs and CONSISTANCY for bracket racing.
I'll get base data for 50hp then go to 75hp and collect more data. etc...! This will be the only way to BR, to know what HP level will give me what ET with what air. Need to go to a smaller track and TnT the "WHOLE" day!
Stay Kool

I spoke to Probe Racing about this once, I use Probe forged pistons in my motor, I asked them how much n2o I could get away with, they told me I had a 220 deck thickness on the piston which is enough for a top fueler, but when it comes to nitrous - if you do it right, you can run a hell of alot, if you do it wrong, you'll grenade it even if its a 10 shot.
Compucar say you can run up to 200hp on a stock V8 motor. I ran a 100 shot on mine, didnt think it was enough, so went to a 150 pill, it ran for a while, but then I had fueling issues, still havent gotten anything over a 120 pill to work correctly. But I'd be willing to risk a 200 pill with 110 octane fuel 50/50 mix with 93 octane.
One of the magazines did a test to see how much a stock junk yard 350 4.000" standard bore motor could handle, only thing they changed was the head gaskets, they pulled the heads off to make sure it was a standard bore. They ran, I think, 300, or maybe 350hp of nitrous on the motor before it blew, they say they coulda ran the 350 easily if they hadn't purged it through the motor so early.
A friend of mine had an LT1 stock bottom end Camaro that ran a high 9 on a 300 shot of n2o, he bought the kit used, installed it, ran it a few times, took the kit off and sold it.
As long as you don't go lean (in fact, i'd stay on the rich side if i were to try that much n2o), use the correct octane fuel, and have enough ignition retard and cold enough spark plugs- not to mention have a fuel pump and ignition system that will handle a 300 shot to start with, it'll be fine for quite a while.
Another misconception is the ease of running so much n2o, you need the fuel and ignition that holds up too, you could put a 300 pill on a stock car, and it may not do anything, you may go faster with a 100 shot cuz your setup won't handle the 300 pill.
Yes I know it was just a question and you have no intention of doing it, if you did try it, and did get it to work, and you did run lean, you'd have pistons welded to the bores and possible snapped rods and if you're real unlucky, a snapped crank.

I can't remember where I read/seen it, but someone/company went to their local junk yard and grabbed a 350ci chev from like a early 80's camaro. They put it in a different vehicle and ran consistant 300 shots until it blew up. I believe they shot it about 6 times till the bottom end went to hell. Oh, there was around 150,000 Miles on the motor too.
