Question How to "hide" spray kit?

I will possibly be buying a NX kit from a guy off of the boards. Its just the kit and nothing else. I would like to get all of the safety requirements first though. I'm still searching on that. Anyway, I don't plan to use the spray very often although I have heard its addicting. I just want to make sure I can win when my mods won't do it. Alot of locals are buying up TA's around here like they are going out of style and some are LS1's. I would like to be able to run the bottle when I want and for it to be kept quiet. On the issue of mounting switches, is there anyway that the button to spray could be mounted somewhere in the radio controls like maybe the "play" button? I have an aftermarket head unit so they aren't of any use now. Where could the electric bottle opener switch be placed to be out of view? Also, do you guys have any underhood pics with hidden kits? I would like to be able to fool most of the "un-learned" around here. Thanks for the help.

Get a hold of WS6_Keith at www.ws6.com, he did exactly what you are trying to do.

Thanks Brook. I guess a hidden system would be hidden. I just didn't know that there was such a thing as a "hidden" system that could be purchased; I thought you just bought a kit and did what you could to hide it or is that what you have to do?
And thanks Grover for the info, I was hoping someone else had done this.

here is the best hidden system i have heard of. i was going to do this, but did nto have a stock intake elbow so i said screw it. my switches are on the side of the console near where my knee is, but not where my knee can touch them. even once they are pointed out, they are still hard to see. i have the 3 switch pod from NX (arm/heater, purge, opener). as for the bottle in the bag, i believe it is a dry kit.

After thought

I recall seeing a hotrod show on a couple of Sundays ago. In the trunk of the car was a red metal tool box. When you pick it up, there was a baby blue bottle. They cut the bottom of the tool box off to hide the bottle. Crafty I thought.

Dang that is a good idea. I might try that.

hide the botle in the spare tire well, hid the heater, opener, arm, and purge switches in the center console or under stock ashtray cover. plumb the lines to run UNDER the intake mainfold and either use a NOS throttle body or put the nozzle in the underside of the intake elbow. the fire switch can be wired off of your TPS or you can use a full throttle switch mounted somplace OTHER THAN WHERE IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE MOUNTED

if you use your imagination, you can REALLY hide a nitrous system well...

In my opinion,....putting the bottle in the spare tire well in a 4th gen is not really a good "hidden" system. Everybody and their brother know that's the first place to look.

Best hidden system I've seen on a 4th gen was on a TA. The guy had the bottle mounted in the nose section in front of the radiator. To turn the bottle on you would reach in through the drivers side fog light hole to get to it. He then had a toggle switch mounted in the console that when flipped, made the horn now the trigger and the cruise control button the purge. Slick as hell and we ALMOST didn't find it before making our bets on that race.

Either way,...I was impressed with the setup/install.

I've got the system on my Vette hidden pretty good. Two buddies who knew I had put the kit on the car looked at it for a 1/2 hour and couldn't find it.

My setup in my 96 Impy works like this:
Rear Window Defroster button arms the system
I use the ATPSS for full throttle switch and a Mallory 685 ignition box which includes window switch and timing retard in one box.
One nitrous is armed (rear window defroster button is turned on) the horn become the purge valve.
I converted over to a Z28 cluster so my trip switch is now my bottle opener/bottle heater button (bottle opens and bottle heater turns on at same time/then opposite when switch is off) I used a DEI 530T power window module to control the NX bottle openers.
Spare tire is removed in the trunk and replaced with 2 10lb bottles with 2 bottle heaters and 2 remote bottle openers.
1 275/40/17 is cut out at the front half and goes around the 2 bottles.
Spare tire cover goes over the tire and hides the 2 bottles.

Hi-psi and mtxpert those are both great ideas. Mtxpert, thats kind of set up would be what I would be looking for. Did you do all of the work yourself? I have very little expirience with electrical stuff so I will be having a local shop do the install and see if they *might* let me watch.
