Question Hobbs/ Fuel Pressure Safety Switch

I was having a conversation with David from TNT, and said this
I was just asking about the fuel pressure switch. It seems to me that if you had the pedal down (WOT switch activated) and you were inside the window switch's range, the it would still be possible for the fuel system to have a problem and the pressure could drop (like if the pump died or the relay blew), correct? In that situation, the nitrous would continue flowing, but you wouldn't be getting enough fuel for the proper mixture. What would happen then?

If you had one, the Hobbs switch, when run inline to a fuel pressure gauge and wired in with the N2O arming system, would then shut off the nitrous, correct?
his reply was
to answer your question.."If the switch has to shut the nitrous off you will have bigger problems!!" What I ment by that is if your fuel pump dies, before that switch turns the nitrous off you will probably allready killed the motor..It dosent take but a split second for it to go bad on you..That is why we always reccomend a fuel pump on any vehicle that will be spraying a 100hp and above..Help prevent the problem before it happens..
So basically he is saying that this switch isn't needed at all. What do the people of this forum say?

From my understanding you set the switch so that when the fuel pressure drops to a certain psi, then it kills the accessory that it's attached to. So you won't actually be out of fuel by the time it shuts off the nitrous solenoid, but you'll be running out. It'll probably make you go a tad lean but I wouldn't worry about it. I guess it all depends on what psi you have it shut the accessory off at. Say if you have it shutoff at 10 psi you'll have a bigger chance of blowing it than you would if you set it ~5 psi under normal load. Just my two cents.
