Fpss differences
Fpss differences
Is there any difference between different manufacturers of Fuel pressure safety switches? Or is the fpss so simple that all manufacturers are basically the same? Reason I ask is because I have a brand new NOS fpss and I wanna use it with an NX system.
Re: Fpss differences
The NOS fpss will be fine, as long as it is designed for your application (efi, or carb). They all function the same way... If your fuel pressure drops below a certain point, they break connection.... So it will be fine..
Re: Fpss differences
While they do all work basically the same way, they can be rated for different pressures.. or be 'normally open'or 'normally closed' switches..
I'd check [via mfgr and part#] to be sure.. or test it to be sure..

Re: Fpss differences
That sounds correct. I bought an FPSS from NOS and it was rated 50psi, but could be adjusted to higher or lower pressures using the screw under the rubber plug on top of the switch. I think it says on the switch itself that it is made by Hobbs, and I think they make most of them. Doesn't matter what system you use it in, its just a switch.

Re: Fpss differences
Thanks everyone that really helped. Turns out now though that the NX kit I am probably gonna buy (used) has the NX fpss with it, so I may just sell the NOS one. Thanks again everybody....
