Is this forged bottem end good enough?

I'm not sure if this setup will be strong enough for what I want, but a local guy is selling the motor for a good price. It's a 383 stroker lt1 with LE heads/cam and should be 420-430rwhp on motor. Now I plan on adding a dual stage 200-250 shot of nitrous. It's got a Eagle Forged LT1/SBC Crankshaft 3.75" Stroke; JE's Sportsman Racing Products Forged Pistons, and Eagle SIR connecting rods. I'm thinking the rods might not be strong enough when spraying. Any opinions?

JE makes a very large variety of pistons. Some would be well suited for use with nitrous and others would be very unsuited. Which pistons are they?

What about the rods? I'll try to find the build sheet to see exactly what pistons it has.

Borderline but probably ok.

If I am reading that right you are planning on running a 450 shot of nitrous. I would not think those rods would be safe for a shot of that size. I believe the hp rating on those rods is only 500 hp.

Sorry I worded that bad, I'll be running a dual stage with a total of 200 or 250. Probably a 100 then another 100, but I might do 125 and then 125.

About your question on the SIR rods, a friend of mine had a 383 stroker engine in an '85 s-10, and he was using an eagle crank, factory powdered metal GM rods and Speed pro pistons at 11.5:1 compression ratio. He dropped a 300hp single stage plate system on that engine, and never had any problems, and the truck was running consistent 10.40's in the 1/4 mile. Those SIR's you have are much better than those factory pieces, so you shouldn't have any problems. The biggest thing with rod strength seems to to be engine speed, and rotating assembly weight. If you are still concerned and want to get a better set of rods, check out www.competitionproducts.com and give them a call. I bought a set of Scat H-beam rods for my big block for $399. Check em out and good luck!

I'm worried because the rods are only rated at 500fwhp/6500rpms, and I'm hoping to be at 550fwhp just on motor. Thats going to be 750+fwhp.

700 to 750 fwhp is what we figured he had based on his 129mph trap speed. Check that web site out. They may have a set of H-beams for an LT-1 pretty cheap, and you could easily sell the SIR eagle rods to offset yourt cost. Good luck.
P.s.....With those power numbers on nitrous, it sounds like your on the quest for 9's.

Problem is I'm plan on buying this motor complete from a local guy, so it's too late to change the rods. I'm not worried about 9's yet, just on a quest for 10's on motor.
