Delteq and nitrous
Delteq and nitrous
Okay guys, I've been searching but still can't find what exactly I need to retard the timing for my Delteq. I checked Delteq's website and they say to use the Crane Cams TRC-1, but Crane no longer makes them (at least that's what the guy on the tech line said). I know I can use the MSD DIS-4, but MSD's tech line says that I need 4 coil interface modules. Is that true? I know that some of you out there are using the DIS-4, please chime in and tell me exactly what I need.
Re: Delteq and nitrous
what you were told about the dis 4 and the interface coils is true
i was dreading buying the dis4 and then i found out about the interface coils and decided to go back to the opti
i believe the coils were something like 25-30 bux each

Re: Delteq and nitrous
I have a delteq and MSD Dis-4, also have nitrous. If your planning you getting a dis-4 make sure you get a new one!!!!! The older models dont have a step retard the made more for boost as timing is pulled from zero to your set about at your rev limiter....ie start retard at 4000rpm rev limited is set to 6500 you pull 6 degrees your not going to get the full 6 degrees of retard till 6500 at 4000 your pulling 0. Also the dis-4 is NOT low rpm friendly most of the features are geared to high reving engines. On a stock short block it wont be of much use because the retard function lowest point is 4000 and the rev limiter starts at 6250. The new units with the rotary dial will control lower rpm and also have a built in step retard.
