a couple beginner questions

First: on the spray nozzles, it has fuel and nitrous fittings... this is obviously to mix them, but does fuel also get supplied from the Carb.? Or is your fuel always passing through that nozzle now?

Second: I have an 85z, and I believe it had a Q-jet from the factory (carb was changed before I bought it). I have a stock intake, but I've got a Holley carb. on it. If I were to purchase a nitrous system, what kind of plate would I need? Something Q-jet based, or something Holley based?

Third: Are window switches made for generic distributors? or are they more-so made for computer controlled cars?

Thanks in advance

1st-The fuel passage in the nozzel is to supply fuel enrichment for the nitrous hit only. The carb will still be supplying fuel.
2nd-Holley based.
3rd-Window switches get their reference from the coil so they will work on almost anything

as stated above the carb will continue to supply fuel for the motor..
which plate you need will depend on whether you have a speadbore or 4150 style intake...not sure what stock configuration is off the top of my head

the window switch will work on your vehicle...you will just pick up tach signal from the coil

the easiest way to tell...look at the carb....if the back 2 butterflys are larger than the fron 2 it is a spreadbore (Q-Jet)...if they are all the same size...it is a 4150 (Holley)

well wouldn't that just tell me what kind of carb. i have? I believe (I haven't gotten up close and personal in a few weeks) it's a normal q-jet intake with an adaptor and the Holley on top of that... all that ASSUMED to be true, I could use either type if the nitrous plate is manifold determined...? Or is the nitrous plate carb. specific?

that is the info we needed....in your first post you said "I believe it had a Q-jet from the factory (carb was changed before I bought it). I have a stock intake, but I've got a Holley carb. on it."

If you "know" it is a q-jet manifold you will need a spreadbore plate.

This is the plate conversion, comes with everything needed to run the plate.
If you already have the jets, gaskets, hardlines etc.....

this is the plate only...

to figure this out do I need to pull the carb off? or can I open the butterflies and look down in there?

So it IS manifold determined?

yes...the plates are dictated by the manifold design...the mounting flanges have to match
