car running rough after plug change!

I gapped my AC delco r42lts to .035 as I am running N20. I used the little wheel gauge that I got from Autozone. The car seems to be running rich. It nearly wants to die at stop lights. Could the gap size be causing the rough idle? Any help guys would be greatly apriciated. I am going to leave the plugs in till this weekend as it is dark now and it took me a long time to change them. Thanks AJ

Re: car running rough after plug change!

When I ran some Autolite 104's gapped to .035 (I used a feeler to gap mine), my car would miss at idle, but ran fine otherwise.

Putting NGK TR-55's gapped at .035 fixed the miss at idle.

So I'm currently running TR-55's gapped at .045 rather than .050.

Re: car running rough after plug change!

I would recommend NGKs as well. Try a slightly larger gap (.40 or .45)

Good luck

Re: car running rough after plug change!

Aren't the R42's about three steps colder than stock(R45's I believe)? If so then that could be your problem. I've used various plugs and plug gaps in my car and never had a problem whether they were gapped at .035" or .050".
