Anybody know of a short header style plug, that's the same as TR-6's?

I'm having terrible problems burning the #5 boot and wire on my FLP's, I haven't even got to spray yet because my car is continually miss firing from the #5 cylinder. I'm on my 4th wire in the past month since I put the TR-6's in for the N20. I think a shorter header style plug will eliminate the majority of the problems I'm having, but don't know who makes one the same heat range as the TR-6's. Also, could that cause a problem having a different brand plug in one cylinder and TR-6's in the other 7?

Thanks!

Tried accel 9000 extreme wires? Their boots are coated to endure lots of heat. My clearance was pretty tight and all seems fine, might wanna invest in a set.

Edit - 1 plug might be a little cheaper than a plug wire set, in hind sight

So is this what was causing your miss Aaron? Man that #5 plug has caused hell for you. Are you still considering a header swap? I'll be in town the weekend after this. so we can fix my miss then , I got my gears here ready to install as well.

I've heard the #5 get toasted on a few cars... curious... what type of headers are you running?

Do you happen to know which Delco plug is the same heat range and shorter? I work at a Chevy dealer and one of the parts guys and I went and compared several different Delco plugs to a TR-55 last time I did my plugs and the porcelin (sp?) parts were the same length on all those we compared.

Get the AC Delco R42LTS, they are shorter than the Autolights. It's the shortest plug I could find. I was having a problem with a plug boot touching the header. It was an extreme 9000 wire. I e-mail Accel and they sent me a new boot, no questions asked. After the AC plugs and putting on the new boot no more problems.

Is that plug the same heat range as the TR-6? Actually what is the heat range of the TR-6. I knew they were reccomended for N20, and that they are colder than stock but by how much? Thanks!!!

The AC R42LTS are one step colder than the stock plugs. Don't know about the others because I've never used them.

Well after some phone calls and comparisons of my TR-6's to several different delco plugs I've have this to say. The TR-6's are 2 heat ranges colder in the LT1 and one heat range colder in the LS1. Also, the TR-6's are the same length as the Delco plugs including the R42LTS, in fact the "L" denotes that it is a long plug. Actually Delco doesn't even make a shorty plug per say, which I confimed by comparing many plugs to one another at work and making a call to Combination Motorsports to see if they had any reccomendations. Combo Motorsports did tell me about a place that sells all sorts of different wire covers for all sorts of applications including automotive, aerospace, home/office, everything. So if anybody else is having problems burning wires and such check out www.techflex.com They have some wire covers that look like they can stand some pretty high heats. Combo Motorsports said they have real good luck with them. Thanks to all those who gave some suggestions, but I'm gonna try some of these wire covers to see if they help.

Cool, hope it works. The whole reason I don't use NGK plug is because the first set I used blew all the gaps. Don't know why and I've never used them since. Good luck.

Same problem here. the 42LTS looked to be about 1/8" shorter than the NGK. What I did was run my #5 plug wire up and over the header. It worked so far. Not sure if i used the same plug wire or a longer one. Alan
