Air Leak!

Air Leak!
after I put everything together and fire the car up there was an apparent air leak coming from what seemed like somewhere around the nitrous plate....a friend that helped commented that there was a hairline crack in the plate (it was a used kit) and that was probably where the leak was coming from...I ordered a new plate ($100) and reinstalled everything with the new plate.....same problem, air leak.....from what I can pinpoint is seems to be coming from where the "thingymado" screws into the top of the nitrous plate on the left side....I made sure to tighten everything down really tight including where the jets are on the "thingymado" and made sure the "thingymado" was screwed into the nitrous plate really with thread sealer.....still has an air leak....obviously the though of taking this all apart again for the third time doesn't sound appealing....anyone ever experience this??

Did you uses gaskets on both sides of the plate? Do you have pics of the "thingymado" so we can understand the part your refering to?
Also I hope this doesn't come off wrong, but whay did you buy a $100 plate instead of a $50 or less nozzle and put it in the intake tract?

the problem was that I couldn't use gaskets because with the nitrous plate there wasn't enough room....the throttle body was hitting the thermostat housing (I have an aftermarket BBK so it's bigger than the stock TB).....all I could do was use RTV on both sides....
I bought a new throttle plate because I did see a hairline crack in the old one and just assumed that was where the leak was coming from....the "thingymado" is the piece that the fuel/nitrous lines screw onto and that gets screwed into the top of the nitrous plates...

John, the TNT system is a dual nozzle plate system.. that's why
I was the one who noticed the hairline crack in the first place from where someone overtightened the nozzle.. which is where we thought the leak was coming from... guess I was wrong.
And as noted, you really can't run a gasket with a 58mm TB and the TNT kit.
Danny, did you let the RTV cure a little while before firing it up? Also, are you using a newer RTV tube? I can't remember now.
I'll give you a call tomorrow.

yeah I actually reinstalled the plate with new RTV last weekend so it had all week to setup...I used plenty too to make sure it sealed good....it was the RTV out of the same tube we used on the first installation but it was still fresh...the air leak seems to still be coming from the left side nozzle because when you cover that area you notice the air leak isn't so bad....although I know how things can always be decieving with these cars...I tightened it down plenty and wouldn't want to tighten it anymore for fear of cracking the plate again....I just wonder if maybe the fittings are bad on the lines causing the leak or something is wrong with the nozzle itself.....

Damn why didn't I think of that....now I know why I keep you around
"My TNT plate was cracked too from another ower so i put the nozzels in the elbow instead of in the plate."
well that would eliminate my spacing problem...but then wouldn't that be a dry shot?

Oh, and no, it wouldn't. What type of kit (wet/dry) is determined by the fact that you have a fuel line and a n2o line going into each nozzle. IE, you have a wet kit

well as it is now I don't think I would have enough line to run the nozzles to the elbow...not to mention it wouldn't look as cool....I guess I'll try switching the nozzles first and see what happens..
