5176 jet question

Allright after alot of searching and reading and relizing this is a touchy topic, i was curious on how to jet the kit. I know the kit comes with a 67 nitrous jet and the vacum tee is a 59. So to up the shot safely you would have to change the tee right? Ok if this is so does anybody sell a bigger tee?

Re: 5176 jet question

Take a look at this link:

http://www.azsupersport.com/5176/5176.htm

The nitrous solenoids that come with the kit only have a capacity to flow around 175HP. I know you can get the .059 (17538-59NOS) and .042 tee (17538-42NOS) from Summit, but not sure of any other sizes.

OK so what i gathered from that is that the lower the # on the tee the bigger nitrous jet you can run at the same a/f ratio right? Right now i think the brass fitting is a .059, or whatever comes with the kit. I have the .067 nitrous jet. So what nitrous jet will work the best with the .042 tee?

Re: 5176 jet question

Correct. The smaller the tee, the more the fuel pressure is raised thereby dumping more fuel. The only way you're going to know for sure is to run the car on the dyno, and I would not change anything with the kit without first testing on the dyno. You're really only going to be able to run a .072N jet before maxing out the solenoids anyway. If it were me I would go with the .042 tee, run it with the supplied .067N jet first, and only if my air/fuel looked rich, then step up to the .072N jet and see how the air/fuel looked. If still running too rich, then think about lowering the fuel pressure a bit if you can find a tee in the high 40-low 50 range. Also if you haven't already, you must get rid of the stock injectors and upgrade to say SVO.

I'm still running the kit as it came, but may be interested in doing this in the future so let me know how it goes if you do this. My setup currently has 30# SVO injectors, both Walbro 255LPH intank and inline fuel pumps, MSD Digital 6 (retard timing) and window switch, AutoMeter fuel pressure guage, and 100 octane when I spray, so just some things you may want to think about. May seem like a lot, but I'd like to keep my stock shortblock around for a while.

Re: 5176 jet question

I have accel 30's, and a digital 6 as well. My a/f is 12:1 now, i dont know what it will be with the nitrous. but i want more than a 150 shot for sure i want as much as i can get. if i have to upgrade noids i will, but i want to run the max jet on the powershots right now. On the timing topic i have 36 degrees right now on engine if i were to spray the kit as is right now do i wanna take out timing if so how much?

Re: 5176 jet question

I've got the Digital 6 dialed to pull 6 degrees now based on the old guidelines to pull 2 degrees for every 50HP you spray, but I bet I could safely put at least 2 degrees back in especially running 100 octane.
