Question 306 in; can I bump up w/s off time

getting everthing rounded up for the headers and 306 install, my ? is would it be safe to move my "off" setting on the w/s from 6k to around 6200 or 6400. I'm running stock heads and bottom end with a 150 shot. From searching looks like peeps are shifting around the 6500 range. If this thing is still pulling at that rpm wouldnt it make sense to move it up alittle? Need some input on this guys, thanks. Chris.

I wouldnt go more than 6200 with the stock bottom end even though the cc306 will certainly pull to 6500. You could still push it higher NA if needed to avoid a shift before the trap. Set the rev limiter at 6400 or 6500 and go there if needed at the end of the run.

IMO, the best answer is to put the car on the dyno, tune it, and SEE where the power is being made. That should tell you where to set the window switch.

I think mine is at around 6600 right now. Haven't sprayed it much on the heads/cam yet, but will be this year, after I get her on the dyno in the spring to get everything tuned in. N/A I've taken her to 7200 a couple times, but usually shift at 6800-7000 N/A. To note; I in no way expect this shortblock to last more than this year...it has already lived a hard 91k mile life, and I am only being harder on it.
