224/236 cam 150 max?

combination motorsports labels the 224/236 on a 114 a nitrous/supercharger cam. they say it's good to a 150 shot.

what happens when you spray more? do you need more lift or duration for a larger shot?

i'm wondering cuz i was thinking about spraying more than 200 to it, probably two stage wet.

thanks,
mike

btw- no boost, can't afford the sc. yet.

As the amount of N2O injected gets larger, the cam will act "smaller", just as the same cam installed in a bigger motor does. It won't hurt anything, however. Just won't produce quite as large a hp gain and will hit peak power at a relatively lower rpm. But from your sig, I get the impression that you have a stock shortblock. If that's the case, the cam won't be a problem with a >200hp shot. The problem is more likely to be picking up all those shiny metal pieces.

thanks for the reply. but i haven't updated my sig in over a year.

i have a set of speed pro forged pistons for a 355, right now i'm down to a bare block ready for boring.
get this, i found out someones been in this thing, all the rods are stamped, the bearings are all fresh and there is no ridge on the top of the cylinders! at 90,000!
my guess is its a fresh block, go figure, oh well, it's apart now.

i'm still trying to decide on rods and crank. i'm doing this on a serious budget. if you had to do one which would you do, rods or crank?

heads are going through some meticulas porting and polishing.
i have edelbrock shorties coated, custom ypipe, long tube style.
i'm probably going with a spec stage 4 clutch. and rebuilding the trans.

i have a set of solid roller lifters and the 224/236 cam.
so heres the debate.
i'm getting a vilper nx kit which is a dual nozzle 100-300 shot.

should i sell my 224/236 cam and buy a different grind and go solid roller.

or sell the solid roller lifters and go with the 224/236 cam.

this car willl still be driven on dry days in the summer. pretty much a daily if it ain't raining, but at the track i plan to put the juice to her!

thanks
mike

I'd keep the cam. As far as crank v. rods, get a nice set of rods and some heavy duty wrist pins. The crank will be fine.
