1st run bugs....any suggestions?
My buddy and I just finished installing the NOS LT1 nitrous kit on his 93 Z28. It has all of the recommended hardware that comes with the kit and then some. We used the in-line NOS pump, and it does have a fuel pressure guage. as far as switches its got a full throttle microswitch and a Hurst button on the shifter ball (car has a quarter stick in it) We took it out with the 68 hp jets in it just to test the system, and here are the problems.... The system didnt want to come on as soon as you hit the button (I am assuming either the microswitch or the button are at fault) and at about 4500 rpm it wants to "surge" for about 500-1000 rpms and then its fine...that is until it proceeds to slap the 6000 rev limiter in 1st and 2nd before shifting. The bottle was at about 750 psi, and the fuel pressure guage would go from 55 psi off the bottle and when you sprayed it the guage would go nuts and bounce from about 80-100 psi when fired. Can anyone steer us through some of these problems? Sorry the post is so long...I had to get all the info in for you. Thanks
Bottle pressure is a little low. Warm it up to about 850. Your fuel psi is good. I would check your plugs. How old? Are they platinum? NGKTR6's if not. That low of a shot probly wont need a smaller gap. For 100-150 go with .38 - .40 . Check the ground on for the relay and or solenoids. Have u or your buddy listen and feel the solenoids to see if the open when u have the car at WOT and your shifter button in( with the bottle and car off). If it clicks rite away then the problem is somethin else.
