So this is where the AZFBA will be LOL
I see your point Dave. There shouldn't be dues... hopefuly there won't be after a year or something, but like what Jeff said, we're starting and everyone's help is needed, we need to have the flyers or the cards to give away when members see F-Bodies. There was tons of post asking for people to help on making the logo, the cards, the flyers.. but it just wasn't happening so someone had to do it.. then obviously it had to be printed.
The problem is... People "TALK" all the time.. but when the time comes to ask for Volunteers.... everyone "tucks" their mouths. This is not directed towards you Dave.. I know you did your share for the club... and i know others that did too... just talking in general here.
We also can't expect Anyone to be able to talk to "every" single F-Body owner they encounter on the streets.. so the quickest way to give them info is using flyers... or the cards.
AZFBA is not a business... it is a car club... its simply just trying to get organized.

For me I didn't want to pay just to use the message board. I don't own an F Body anymore so I wouldn't be taking advantage of any of the "benefits." Also, my personal opinion is that dues are going to keep the group small...especially if you have to pay them just to access the message board. Very few newbies are going to want to fork over $20 to someone they've never met for events that they don't know anything about, or when they'll happen, or to get sponsor discounts at shops, etc. that they've probably never heard of. It's like paying for a car without meeting a salesman, seeing the dealership, or even knowing what kind of car you're going to get. Just give them the money and they'll take care of the rest. Not my thing. True...it's only $20 for six months or whatever...but I don't give $20 to TV Evangelists who offer me nothing for proof of what my $20 is going towards either.
If the board was public, people could lurk around for a while and get a feel for things before paying. That's how it should be.

hey guys.. i thought id might as well say hi.
id have to agree with mark (btw, cant u stay on AOL for more then 2 sec's so i can IM u damn it!) back when i can remember PCCP there was no dues, and when AZFBA started, there wasnt, but as mark said new comers will want to see the site and the message board. they wont want to pay $20 upfront. so now, instead of going to AZFBA, u might as well have sent them to AZSR and corrupted their minds

The kits thru me w/ tax and credit card fees are a buttload cheaper than that.
The credit card fees should you pay w/ credit card are offset by the fact you don't have to pay shipping.

You want to see a GREAT car club that doesn't want to be a business.
Las Vegas Fbody.
They even run an annual event! with no dues, no bull****. They are 200+ strong with out breaking a sweat. You should have seen the cars at the in and out when I went to LV invasion it was AWESOME.

According to Valerie, there were like 35 cars or so?
I think LVFBA is a great club with a bunch of cool people don't get me wrong, but its not nearly as big as you make it out to be. They've also been around years longer than AZFBA. AZFBA has only been a club for 6 months now, and you are sitting here comparing it to a club thats been around for years. Apples to Oranges.
I'm sorry Dave, but the prices you claim I was selling NX kits for, as well as the number of actual active members in LVFBA are extremely inflated. I understand you are trying to defend your position, but at least be realistic.

And did that price you mention include shipping?
The prices I was offering to AZFBA members were still under what you paid for your kit, even with tax and with a 4% credit card fee included (f you elected to pay via credit card)....and not to mention there was no charge for shipping since people could just pick them up from my house locally.

You like a lot of others keep forgetting that everyone has different visions for what theyd like the club to be. Maybe that is your vision, but it may not be mine or others. A lot of us want the club to grow and prosper, and running some aspects like a business can help that. We've already raised $1500 towards club activites. As far as your volunteering ideas? Yeah, in a perfect world people would volunteer everything. But guess what? Thats not reality. Reality is that many people never follow through with their volunteering promises. Its a pain in the *** to have to keep begging and nagging people for help. Also, its the same few people that donate a ton of time and money to the club, and everyone else just reaps the benefits from the generocity of a few individuals.
As far as 200+ strong, thats a bunch of BS. They don't have 200+ active members in that club. If they did, then how come only a couple dozen cars total including out of towners showed up to their biggest event of the year, LV invasion?.....

The parking lot of this mini strip mall was 2/3 full of Fbodys and 90% of them had LVFB Stickers. So, I didn't see you there, so Sit back down and don't talk **** unless you know ****, Sorry I didn't get out of my car and count, but there were a lot more Fbody there then anything and I know some LVFB members didn't make it there. Plus, I used to live in Las Vegas for 3 years and I have a friend that was in the club.
I know how the club got where it is, I helped get it there as far as members go. I know you have a different vision for the club and it's not mine, so I optd to bow out. I've heared your speech on what the club is or wants to be. I again choose not to be a part of it.
Well the AZFBA message board is slow and everyone wassaying that its because of the Holidays! I DONT THINK SO! Well when hits are down and no one visits it anymore then it will Be the down fall! Paying to post is a bad thing andI dont agree with it. Paying to be a Club and to get Discounts and Club Activitys is ok with me

Thats part of the reason its slower, and part is that a decent amount of people will no longer be posting on the boards. You need to give everything time to grow. 65 paying members/sponsors for a club that just started 6 months ago isn't bad at all.

By asking people to chip money in for dues, it shows us who would like to contribute to the club's growth. Dues will help the club advertise and pay for things ahead of time as a whole, instead of having the same few people front money for everyone else.
Lastly, dues aren't going to be charged forever. Our hope is that through the use of discreet advertisement on the website, we wont' have to ask people for dues in the future.
OK tell me this! At the meeting we talked about how later on that it will not cost a thing and some ads will pay for it all! I only suggested 2 more forums open and that was it! Did I bash our club? No I am simply stating how I feel and some of the other Members and Board members feel! Oh and Put a Chain on your Dog 00Blackout, hes needs to stay in his own yard and dare not get near mine!
i think that maybe there should be a new forum or 2 where anyone can post (members, non-members) so if newbies want to join, ask questions, whatever... they can without haveing to pay.. and then lets say after they are becoming active or posting alot.. ask them to join and pay the $20.
