Where in Southeastern Michigan can I shoot my rifle for the day
I've been searching for some time for a place that doesn't require membership, I just want to pay for the day, since I shoot only every so often. I know the State parks by my house have sights located in Waterford, but they require you to only shoot one round at a time, so even if your handgun or rifle has a magazine, you are only allowed to load one round in it at a time. This is very tedious and annoying. The advantage is its cheap like 5 bucks. I am going with my dad so the cheaper the better, I don't want to pay 50 bucks for both of us just to shoot for a few hours, which is what some of the gun clubs charge. I am by Milford, but any suggestions on an area in Southeast Detroit will do.
Hmmmm, go to your back yard, make a mound of dirt to stop the bullets and voila you have your homemade shooting range (If you have a 500 yard lot).
Search for gun ranges on the net and you will find some around, or just find someone who has a lot of land that has a shooting setup and ask them. How far are you looking to shoot?

I checked on the net but found very little, the ones that had outdoor ranges want you to be a member. There was a place up in fenton that had outdoor shooting open to the public that I just called Fenton gun club but they've since stopped open public from using the outdoor range.
I actually went today to the Pontiac Lakes rec. today, after calling them I found out they now allow 6 rounds in a clip or barrel. So I went which wasn't to bad, much better than the one round law
Even so it still winds me up to know they still limit the amount, afterall the law states new manufactured magazines must not exceed 10 rounds, so this is where they should set the limit. The guy said they used 6 cause thats what most pistols use. Personally I can't understand the difference, afterall 6 rounds is just as dangerous as 10. My M1 rifle holds 8 to the clip and is a hassle and more dangerous in my opinion to try and load it with only six in there, which is what I had to do. Also when checking your targets you must lay your firearm downrange with chamber open. I first put it up in the gun rack which points up in the air , but was told that I can't do that because the rack is located behind the seats out of the safety line. I don't like guns pointing at me while I stand in front of them, but hey what do I know, apparently Michigan feels anything more than 6 rounds is to dangerous for a civilian to handle
