Well, I sure Ion well get right but if you need changes that another 50 bucks each time plus down time, whereas the other local tuner for $350.00 comes to you if you car does run correctly also WIDEBAND street tunes it for you (real world conditions) if necessary.
A mail order is no comparison to a hands on tune, and in my 16 years of tuning, street tuning produces a better all around tune as to a dyno wot tune.( And yeah I know you can get the same results from the dyno but I think it more timely and creates undue stress on a vehicle, not a dyno expert just an opinion.)

NOTE: Not throwing stones or questioning any tuners capability, I'm sure most are experienced or they wouldn't be in business.

I don't think you can justify a $350 fee to me. I doubt I'll send it back to him for 4 updates, which would equate to $350.

$350 is too much for a street tune with no numbers to back it up. There are many reputable tuners that will dyno tune the car for $350.

How many people actually pay that price knowing they can get a dyno tune for the same price?

Here's another success story for Sean at CARS: He helped me create an ignition map and fuel map from scratch for my FAST XFI injected Minirammed 385 Gen1 SBC. We eeked 381 RWHP out of it. Previous best, on the Livernois Dynojet, was 396 RWHP. All I can say is Sean's 381 RWHP tune gets 4 MPG better gas mileage (23 MPG highway), obliterates tires in first gear, and spins tires at will in second gear unless you have the car pointed straight on clean concrete. The Dynojet would probably show 400+, maybe more at this point. Throttle response is good, and the car has run over FIFTY hard laps of Gingerman raceway (90 miles and 90 minutes of on/off WOT) with no troubles at all.

He did the whole tune in four hours for just $400.

I have to say, your logic is bad. Trust me, I had the same logic back when I had my LT1 and learned from experience. It wasn't until after my whole heads/cam experience that I realized I had spent a couple thousand dollars on parts only to cheap out on the most import aspect of getting the mods to work correctly on the car, the tune.

It's not that my mail order tune was bad because it wasn't. I just felt it was a nice, safe tune that left a lot of horsepower on the table. I don't blame the guy doing the mail order tune because they have to tune extra safe to not risk blowing up engines in customers car's that they've never even so much as scanned.

From now on, any major mods I do will be street, track or dyno tuned. JMHO!
