How many of you knew about this one? It basically says any project vehicles you have around the property are considered litter. Anything non running, or not able to be used in the manner in which it was described.

Well, I can see this one both ways. I'd hate to see someone get jammed up on it for haveing a true project car sitting outside. But on the other hand, I don't want to see some redneck's junk car that hasn't run in two years just sitting in his yard.

I live way out in the country, and have 5 old cars sitting in my back yard...
Last year the township commishioner(sp) stoped by and told me I had to "get rid of the junk cars".
I took him out back started them all up, and with them all idleing asked wich ones were the junk ones?
He hasn't stopped back since...

Hmm...lets see. I got one of those notices at my grandmother's last week for my 93 Z. It doesn't have a front end, doors, engine or trans. But what is a guy supposed to do in the middle of winter when he doesn't own a garage. I am going to cut the car up for the parts anyway. I just have a problem using electric tools in a foot of snow. It does have a tarp over it though. Is it a project car? No. But it does have about $6000 dollars worth of parts on it that I am going to use. Am I trying to be a redneck, not really. It will be gone as soon as the weather breaks. Hell, I've only owned the car a few months. Oh, and by the way. Do you know how hard it is to find somebody to move a car for you. It took me 3 weeks to get somebody to move the car 4 miles from Devenomer's house to my Grandmother's. And still nobody helped me when I posted about it on several boards. I had to pay a tow truck to do it. Well, whatever.

It's a stupid law. Who's to say that a guy bought the car, with the intentions of doing something with it, however, came upon hard times, and wasn't able to get to it, as his $$ was directed to other priorities. Who the hell are we to attach laws to what people must use an item for, that they legally bought.

This is America. If you want someone to regulate every aspect of your life, then move to Rusia, or better yet, North Korea. In regards to the cars. I think that common sence prevails most of the time. However, you will always have that one idiot. But should the behavior of that one idiot carry over into the everyday lives of the comon man? NO!!

Lets let out law enforcement concentrate on violent criminals, especially the baby rapers who prey on the inocent. Leave the cars alone.

PS, no I dont have a yard full of cars. I cant afford more than the SS & my truck. But in the last of the free, I want to be free to do what I please with my posessions. Have a good day

James,

I'm looking for back seats in two tone graphite and grey cloth. Let me know if thats what you got and what you need to get for them.

Thanks,
Mike

Your lucky, in my area you can get into trouble, for having too many cars in your driveway. I'm serious we have recieved letters from the township about this, and it is rediculous.

I totally agree that people should be able to keep as many cars as they want on the property that they own and pay taxes on. It is the people who complain of the "eyesore" and say that it looks like a junkyard and that it decreases the value of their property because of the "junk" next to them. I keep my junk cars behind a barn and out of sight and people should be able to keep theirs where they want. But think of it this way what about your neighbors who's property value is actually decreased by being next to you and can't sell their house for as much? Real junk cars can attract rodents and make neighborhoods look bad. It is the local ordinances that tell you to get rid of your junk and they also protect your neighbor from you infringing on their property value.
I'm not argueing I'm just stateing both sides. My personal opinion is to let people have as many cars as they want, on average I have 12, only 9 run.

I just finished cleaning up after recieving an ordinance violation from our local law enforcement. I had 3 cars in my back yard - all under car covers. Looked clean but it was not good enough.

It cost me a fortune since one was my winter car with a cracked head that I needed to replace. I had to scrap that car since I didnt have enough time to fix it.

They gave me 7 days and I had to apply for an extention.

Of the others - one was a parts car the other was for show - with no motor in it and my garage was occupied with another project.

Buggers !!!!

I agree with Harolds above post.Well said Harold. That is just one of the downfalls to living in a city,or township or what ever.I live in the country on 300 acres. We have cars all over the place hiding here and there. Some are visible to our neighbors some are not.All together between me,my dad,and uncle who co owns all the land with my parents have @ 20 to 30 cars and trucks. Most of them do not run.Either they are dead forever, projects,or just all around farm beaters.None of our neighbors have complained and our township people are pretty cool.We have never gotten any notices or anything. When the cops do actually come and patrol our small town, they stop and get out and look at alot of the old iron and wonder what kind of cars they are.(My dad is into old Volvos)Never any problems though. That is one of the reasons I like living in the country.

I understand that junk cars create an "eyesore". I also understand that when somebody is trying to sell the house next door that it can bring the property value down. But, the only house that can see the car is not for sale, nor has it been in 25 years since I was born. The same couple has lived there forever. I just wish that when it is under freezing outside that people would have a little patience. If it didn't move, or they didn't see me doing some kind of work on it when the weather breaks it would be a different story. Maybe I am a ***** that doesn't like the cold. Maybe I have fallen on hard times. Does it really matter. The car will be here and gone in less than 6 months. Hardly long enough for a reason to bitch.
