Road Racing
Road Racing
I went to Waterford Hills yesterday. First time roadracing. I tried not to involve myself in drag racing vs road racing theory(I like both and can't see dissing one). It was much fun. I got whooped on by little tiny cars(also some v8's and a v10). Where were you guys?

NMCA's Mid Michigan Motorplex stop
I don't know WHY exactly. My car is set up to turn more so
Heads-Up Racing can't be beat. Maybe that's why... hmmm Cool to see you got some seat time. Was this with a club or an open track day?

I was there and my guess is you're the guy with the loose steering wheel that was parked next to me. I didn't have my Firebird with me but I'll be there for the racer's test and tune in a couple of weeks. I was in the black Dodge Ram truck wearing the Pontiac Racing hat.
For the others, try http://www.waterfordhills.com for information on the track. You'll also see they have a bulletin board where you can ask questions and the like.
Denny, this was an open track day put on by the track itself. They're trying to get more people interested in racing at the track. Other than having short 10-12 minute sessions, I like the way they run their events. The passing locations were much more liberal than most clubs do at the track.
BTW, the course near Grand Rapids is Gingerman. http://www.gingermanraceway.com . It's a good track but WHRR is more challenging. It's just more difficult to pass at WHRR.
You might also take a look at http://www.grattanraceway.com . It's my favorite track in Michigan. Hills, off camber turns, blind turns, hillcrests right in braking zones, uphill s-turn leading to long straight, etc. They even have paved pits.

Everything Mike said and ....Mid Ohio ..this is my dream track, everything Grattan has and more.
I'm at Waterford on the 11th for a Porche Club Track day. New brake ducts and all ! I'm trying the Kuhmo's Mike so wish me luck ... LOL.
There's nothing as much fun as driving on a track so get out there !
Brian.
