Ring and pinion install

Where is a good shop to have a new gear installed? Anyone had work done at The Ring & Pinion shop in Roseville on Gratiot? They quoted me around 550 for a GM 4:10. Sounded about right.

gear install

NO... that sounds to expensive. a gear, labor with bearings "if needed" would only cost you $400.00 if i did the work. and thats a GM gearset to boot.

This is the first time I am looking to have a gears installed. The car is an m6 and I thought the 4:10 made sense. Would the gears whine? I have heard they would. Also do you guarantee your work? Thanks for the reply.

If you have a 6 spped manual than the 4.10 ratio will work out just fine. I warranty my work just like DTS does, 6 months parts and labor.

As for gear wine, I strive to do the best job possible.
given that aftermarket gears WILL at some rpm make noise.
that is why i try to use a GM made ring & pinion set.

One last question. Do you recalibrate the speedo or am I on my own? If not you, do you know who does? Thanks.

Scott just recently put 4.10's in mine and they are silent. No whine, zero! He'll do a great job for ya!

Sorry I couldn't make it by today Scott, my wife had other plans for me. LOL How's your ride comin' along? You going to make it to M8? I'll give you a call the end of the week or something, maybe we can follow each other out to Stanton. -Greg

Originally I had a Hypertech programmer. When I got the heads/cam done I needed tuning on a dyno, so the speedo was changed then.
