oh god, that really sucks man. those ezouts are def. more trouble then there worth because of that. thats why I dont EVER use them anymore. damn. dont evenknow what to tell you bro. since its deep in there, its gonna be nexxt to impossible to get out. have no idea how your goin to do it now.

oh, and I think your only way to get the ezout out of there is to hit it with a small/long thin punch. should be able to tap it till its loose and will come out.

When I use an EZ-out, I don't try to crank the broken bolt out that hard. If it does not come out easy, I remove the EZ-out and try something else. As you found out, they are brittle and snap very easily.

I've got my engine back on a pallet, I'm gonna load it up in my truck and take it somewhere tomorrow... not sure yet. I feel so sick right now.

It's not the end of the world. They make bits that will cut that easy-out out without much effort. You'll probably need to go to a machine shop to get one or have it taken out now though.

oh, and my guess is that the bolt DID bottom out. or else how would the eazy out have any resistance to turning counterclockwise? Ive broken bolts by overtorquing them before, and the piece comes out like nothing thats still in the hole. unless maybe the bolt you used, the threads starting giving way under all the stress, and basically crossthreaded in there way after you had it threaded in there properly. now what I mean? as in the threads started to pull off of the bolt, and when you turned it more, it basically jammed itself in there that way.

Apollo EDM in Fraser TOTALLY saved my ***. The threads on the longer bolt started to give and it cross threaded itself in there, no way was an easy out going to get it. Dropped it off monday morning, picked it up the next morning. I had to drop the oil pan back down and clean it out as some coolant got in there, but everything else looks great.

Anyone know how to properly line up the rear cover on this thing? Don't you let the rear main seal center the cover and torque it down?
