Original Pontiac 455 H.O. Motor

Up for sale is a complete, running original 455 H.O. motor. The motor is in great condition and runs and starts perfectly. Motor is rebuilt and has 5,000 miles. You get the complete longblock minus the distributor. No brackets or accessories are included.

Motor is bored 0.30 over, balanced and features original rods and crank, forged TRW pistons, all ARP fasteners inside and outside the motor. Also Comp Cam kit, Competition roller tip rockers (1.5), Melling oil pump. Windage tray drilled for better oil drainage. Motor rebuilt by Fairway Engines in Mt. Clemens, MI.

The engine code stamped on the rear of the engine is - 485428. This indicates that the motor is a 1971 455 H.O. (http://www.yearone.com/updatedsingle...ontengid1.html)

The engine is also stamped "YE" indicating that it is the 335 HP version as opposed to the earlier 325 HP version.

The cylinder heads are original round port heads. The heads are stamped CO21 which indicates they were manufactured on March 2, 1971. They are
also stamped "197" indicating that they match the block and are for the 335 HP motor (http://www.yearone.com/updatedsingle...ontengid5.html)

The motor also features an OEM intake manifold and carburetor.

If you are looking to complete your original Firebird, GTO, LeMans and need an
original 455 H.O. motor, this is for you. If you are building one of these projects, you already know how difficult OEM parts are to find, let alone a complete, running motor.

The motor is currently in a 1971 Trans Am. You can come see the motor run and even ride in the car. You can also see a video of the motor running at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waWsed4f0Ic

I will have the motor removed from the car to be available to either ship or pick up. If you require shipping, you must make arrangements for that.
