Re: need a LT1 carb intake

thanks for lookin out IROC5.7.
no the bolt hole are different and the reverse cooling that the LT1's have would be a problem too. but yes an older style does fit on there i have an old 350 truck intake and it sits rite on there(both are 23' intakes)

Re: need a LT1 carb intake

reverse flow means the input and out put are switched. which as far as i know really wouldnt do nethign to it.
who makes a carb intake for the lt1 motors?

Re: need a LT1 carb intake

gm is the only one who makes one. #24502592.
the intake doesn't have the water passages.
LT1's cools the heads first then the block(i think)
I have a standard intake i could test fit. But from what i've heard on here nobody uses's standard intakes on the LT1's.

Re: need a LT1 carb intake

all you have to do to use a standard sbc intake is have the outter boltholes machined because on the lt1's the intake bolts go almost straight down instead of perpendicular to the head and intake. machining is only like 70 bucks. all ports line up perfect but you can not use the middle bolt holes between the runners, it will seal fine though with no problems.

should be able to make a carbed vortec manifold work. I believe the have the same bolt pattern as the LT1. not sure about the water passages though.

Re: need a LT1 carb intake

actually daddyo i know of a lot of people that would rather run a standard sbc intake on an lt1 for a few reasons. carbed intakes for an lt1 only come dual plane. also with a single plane victor jr. it will fit under a stock hood.

Re: need a LT1 carb intake

i'm building a motor for my Camaro(std. sbc) and the motor in my truck(85 1 ton daully)took a dump so i'm putting the LT1 in the truck so i can drive it.So fit and hood clearence etc. was not a factor i just wanted to do the swap with spending little to no money.
