M8 Dvd?

A couple of people have asked to have my M8 footage put on DVD since they can't download it or would like a copy. Its the exact same stuff as http://fisher.osu.edu/~jshoberg with a simple title menu and raching chapters. Ofcourse, it will be fullscreen DVD quality MPEG2, rather than low-res web stuff.

I'm asking for $10 via paypal/check to cover costs of time, dvd media, and shipping. Email me if interested.

That's great, John!

I've got some M8 stuff too: Not much, but a little bit. I've been working on the CamaroZ28.com Nationals DVD for three months now so I am impressed to see it already available.

Hey Jon, how about you send it to Dan so he can include it as a bonus on the Nationals DVD that is entering final production?

Nationals DVD - A tidbit of the final edit

I must apologise for taking so bloody long on creating this video: It's taking me TWICE as long as I had thought it would. Essentially, it takes about an hour of editing for every minute of footage I create, because there are usually two (or more) camera angles for every shot. Editing, synchronizing, and cropping the video takes a lot of time, and so does equalization of all of the sound.

The most maddening part is trying to force Pinnacle Studio 8 (most recent updates included) to do what you want it to do without it crashing your project. FAIL TO RENDER is the worst of all moments. Once I am done with the project, I will be scrapping the Studio 8 software: Maybe I'll pay another $300 and get the Pinnacle Liquid edition, but I'll probably not bother with any more Pinnacle software. Too buggy. I don't trust them to get it right anymore. I better just switch to Adobe.

That said, I created this ultra-low bandwidth segment that is approximately 4 minutes long. It's the CZ28 Nationals, Quick 16 round 2. See what you think, and ignore the crappy video quality: I compressed 4 minutes into 3 megabytes. The original video is about 1 gig per minute of footage.

Right-click, and save it to your hard drive if your browser won't open it. WinAmp will play it, among other things.

I hope you like it!

Dave, it's never too late to change, until it gets sent to the production house out west.

I really, really, really want to have the whole thing ïn the can"by the end of the year. I'll probably hand-burn the first few sets of DVD's (without artwork), and send them out to the folks that pre-paid for the DVD. Then, I'll send four masters to the production house along with cover art and have fifty sets made up for sales / distribution (including those that pre-paid).

Maybe we should have a DVD preview party, or something! So far, I have 45 to 50 minutes of the project compiled, but I am going to rip it apart again for some late edits and volume & music changes. Then I have to go through rendering HELL. First thing I need to do though is BUY A BIGGER HARD DRIVE since my 120 gig drive is nearly full. I can't believe it!

So, other than my spelling your name wrong, what did you think of the low-bandwidth preview? Does the pace move along fast enough for you? So far, this four minute segment is my most favorite.

Taner's race against Matt Cybalski is probably my most favorite scene, closely followed by the Craig Fountain introduction, then the music & titles while the Grand National turns onto the return road & stops to pack the chute.

thread hijack!!

I must apologise Jon,
I hijacked your thread. I'm working on a CZ28.com Nationals DVD, though I hope to include some M8 material. I too, would like to get a DVD of your footage. Is it possible? I am bandwidth limited and cannot practically download due to my 50Kbaud dialup.
Could I use it on a CZ28.com DVD? Are you editing your footage, or just ripping it to DVD?
