LS1 6 speed trans needed

Anyone who has a line on a used, rebuilt, or new t56 for an ls1 let me know. Mine stuck in 4th at the track wednesday and has at least a bent/broken shift fork.

I will consider all options, but am looking to get out as cheap as possible.

Hookups at a dealer welcome! My car is still under warranty, but obviously wouldn't pass a zone rep's scrutinizing. Any dealers out there that are friendly to modified cars? hey, I had to ask .

Anyhow, TA Jack does that guy still have any of those upgraded trannies? the ones for like 1500?

how about a good/working used one for <800?

new ones that fell of a truck?

maybe even a doner one so I can have it rebuilt, and then do the swap. You can have my old one for a core if yours doesn't need EVERY thing replaced.

Calling all cars, I need to do something soon. N vs S is in a month.

Have you tried contacting that valvegod guy? I think his e-mail is valvegod@aol.com.

Also, try giving D&D in Wixom a call for a rebuild. 248 735-6220 Talk to Steve.

Called and left a message with valvegod.

D+D says that on average its about 1200 to go through one, and upgrade the common stuff that can be improved. Problem is, they have a 3 week backup right now.

I want to get it foxed before then, N vs S is in a month. That cuts it kinda close.

Rod,

If your trans is out I can overhaul it for $200 + parts. I can get the updated 3-4 fork and upgraded synchros from D&D with
carbon fiber blocker rings. Fork is $49 and synchro kit is $249 I believe. I am a GM master tech at Pres Kool Chevrolet. I have rebuilt these under warranty on modded cars before. Call me at 5172238944. I am located in Fowlerville and D&D in Wixom is only about a half hour away. Let me know!

ok, my car is very modded, but stock motor. lol

warranty is good till september and another 6000 miles.

thing is, its a pontiac if that matters.

If I have to, I will pull it, get the parts from D+D and do the upgrades.

anyhting less then the 1200 they quoted would be nice. <1000 sweet.

Trannies are just one thing that Andy does well. He sounds like your cheapest bet. I can say that the guy knows his stuff.

If I ever get my car out of his garage, he'll have room to work He's got a manual and 2 automatics in there now, so I'd say he's pretty familar with them.

It doesn't really matter that it is a Pontiac. I put a clutch in LT1CAR 99 T/A and that went through ok. We do crossline warranty all the time. It might be a fine line with how modded you are, I don't know how "unstock" it looks now. I did a limited slip carrier in Black Sunshine's car here and it was a far cry from stock. They said he would only get it one time though. But knowing how these trannies always tear up the synchros, you should be ok.

Phantom T/A,
I do trannies as long as there is trannies to do. I am the heavy repair guy in my group here at work. I can do yours either way you want. You pull it or I can. Yours will need upgraded synchro kit also. And get the 3-4 steel fork.

Harold,
Thanks for the kind words! Sorry, but your car got pushed out to do someone elses trans! Hope you don't mind working outside!

well the car has a couple of turbo's hanging off the manifolds, and a 12 bolt rear. if its worth trying, I will go that route.

If not, I will pull it and have you rebuild it; or put in the one that TA Jack knows about.

The only appeal of that one over having you rebuild it, is that I get a spare tranny in the long run. Which may be needed.

as far as labor, there really isn't anything that prevents it from being any easy removal. Just have to unbolt the trans from the bellhousing instaed of the whole unit.

I will be in touch monday.

Thanks.

as far a damage, I really dont think the power was the issue. It went into all the gears fine, and made the run. Just got stuck in 4th. I tried to drive it yesterday, and I can get 1 2 4 5 and reverse. 3rd wont go in, (synchro?) and dunno about 6th.
