Looking for Trans for 1995 Grand Prix

My son just bought a car and it needs a trans. It is a 1995 Grand Prix, with the 4t60e tranny. Anyone have a good used one, or know of where to get one? Thanks

theres a guy at work that just got tboned in his either 97 or 98 monte carlo, I believe thats the same trans. his car ran perfect, and he does not have collision ins. I know he's not goin to fix the car. I'll see if he would sell it as is for the trans if your interested. no idea what he'd want. you would have to remove it or have it removed yourself (it may be possible to pay me to remove it if my boss w/let me do it at work). I'll talk to my tranny guy tomorrow and make sure its the same trans, and see how much the guy wants for the trans. you can call my cell tomorrow afternoon if youd like (that will also help to make sure I remember to talk to them).

Thanks Chris, I just now saw your message. I may be interested, but I am not sure they are the same. I would definitely be interested in paying you to take it out (and even put it in the Grand Prix). Let me know what he wants for it.

well, they are not the same carl. the 95 is vac. modulator controled, and the 99 (its a 99, not a 98) is compl. elect.. whats wrong w/the trans in there now? if you cant find a good trans, maybe I can hook you up w/my tranny guy at work and he can go through yours at work on the side.

It is a 4T60E trans. The info I show is 94 and earlier are the Vac Modulators and 95 and later are the electronic.

My step son bought this car on Ebay and we get it home to find the tranny slipping and the fluid smells burnt. It has 158,000 miles so I kind of expected that. Now just trying to find a way to get this car on the road and save a 16 year old some money.

Let me know if you think the Monte tranny will work, and if you are interested in swapping it out for me, or if your tranny guy needs some business.

BTW... how is that gauge install going?

Unhappy

I'll look into the trans deal.

as for the gauges, they are as far as yo ualready knew about. got them home, looked at them a few times, but thats it. only drove the car one more time at the track after I got them, and now the eng/trans are out on the gar. floor. that cars on hold till it gets painted. since I decided to do the heads/cam/...... swap on my 95, now I spent so much money that Im not sure I'll be able to do the paintwork till later summer at the earliest. and thats hopefull thinking. really it will depend on how the swap goes.
