Looking for a t56 swap or a built a4
OK, my trans just stop shifting into second. I checked the fluid the level was fine but smelled burnt. i am going to take it to a shop to make sure. I think it is blown and now am debating a trans swap. Anyone have a t56 with everything i need for the swap or a built a4? One conditions is that I must pick it up. I will not deal with shipping it or sending money without having the product infront of me. Sorry but i have been seeing to many scams around here lately. If not what is a good trans shop to do a rebuild in the Oakland county area.
Thank you
Andy

Andy,
I have a T56 out of a 96-97 Firebird that I am in the process of building. I have a third gen and it will take too much for this to work for me so I am going to be selling it. I am going to buy the D&D Viper T56 so I can retain my cable speedo and it will handle more torque than stock. I can build this one with the D&D steel 3-4 fork and all the carbon fiber blocker rings if need be. I was going to try to get around $1000 for it when done. It has a new countershaft and all 5-6 gear parts. Trans originally only had 8,000 miles on it when it went out. I am a master ASE tech at a Chevy dealer in Okemos. Let me know if this helps you out at all. I know you will still need all the conversion parts but they can't be too hard to find.
