Looking for an aluminum trailer - Anywhere local??

Looking for an open aluminum rig. Does anyone know of a local place in the greater metro area?

Lightbulb Featherlite Trailers

Mark, the only aluminum trailer manufacturer that comes to mind
is Featherlite. There are probably others. Might try Google under
car haulers for them. Featherlite does have open trailers. I went to their website. No prices, but there is an 800 number to call. I was looking for a trailer about a year ago and ran across an enclosed Featherlite at a trailer dealer in South Lyon. ( South Lyon
Trailer?)It was quite a bit more expensive than the steel trailers. I
think they are nice trailers if you can get past the sticker shock!!

what exactly are you looking for? a local aluminum car trailer distributor or manufacturer?

why does it have to be local? can't you just go through a dealer?

Mark,

I rent a Demco aluminum trailer to tow my car around.

A Demco aluminum trailer for purchase is the same price as a enclosed. They are expensive, but very good quality.

I've seen a few aluminun trailers for sale on Gratiot between Hall road and Mt. Clemens. They were selling for around $2000-$3000. There is a Uhaul place there and a few blocks down is the trailer place. I can't think of the name at this time. It's near Lance Cruise High School on the East side of Gratiot.

Hope that helps

Kandied - I'm looking for a distributor/dealer.

Daren - thanks, I'll try and track it down this weekend! Where (and how much a pop) do you rent yours - same place?

Mark,

I rent my Demco from Romeo Rent All
410 E. St Clair(32Mile road)
1/2 mile E. of Vand Dyke
Romeo MI, 48065

Phone number is 586-752-6961

Price is usually $75 for one day...sucks.... If you rent it enough $50 like I get....

Just complain about Uhaul renting a car hauler for $50 for 24 hours and they will give you that rate.

They have two demco flat bed trailers...they have been abused a little and I'm not sure if he is renting out the new one yet to customers. If you decide to go look at them...I haven't rented in a while so I'm not sure what condition they are in. Last time I seen them they were going downhill. The manual pull wench was not working and the lift was bent.

Uhaul rents a car hauler that works...but is not a flat aluminum one like a tow truck.

Rider rents a aluminum flat bed car hauler also, but not sure if they allow you to rent it without renting a truck also.

Hope that helps

With my old 2000 blazer it wasn't bad at all. I didn't have electric brakes and it wasn't bad stopping or excellerating. Make sure you have even tire pressure on the trailer and tow vechicle and you'll be all set. The headlights might need to be adjusted because it will lift them to assume they were brights. We upgraded the springs and shocks in the blazer, but I think it was towing the same with the stock vs new shocks. I didn't see that much of a difference except the rear didn't sag as much.

I got a 2003 Trailblazer this year. It tows the car and jet ski's perfectly.

Cool, that's what I was hoping. We got an Envoy so that's good news!

I've got the Envoy with the air adust rear. Did you upgrade your trailblazer or are you using the package that came with it? The rating sticker on the hitch shows that we would be over so I was thinking of an "upgrade".

Mark,
You should be fine. The truck will pull it like it was nothing. You don't need the extra gear ratio or upgrade stuff. The gear ratios just give you more low end torque which even with the stock 3.42 ratio the Envoy will pull it just fine. I've towed my car with my sisters Trailblazer 4x4 and there was no major difference. Just you go slower from the bottom end....your not racing so who cares if it takes a little longer 2 seconds to excellerate from 0-30. then after that it's smooth pulling.

I have a Trailblazer EXT 4X4 with the upgraded axel ratio of 4.10 for towing a boat and sucking gas on the highway. lol

I added an electric brake control module and towed an enclosed trailer with my car in it with no problems. Just it sucks gas when your towing that much weight. Toronto and back.... $100 easy.

Cool! mine has 373's in it. I'll need to add the elec brake controller as well. So the wt ratings on these "standard" hitches is nothing to worry about!? Cool!
