Unhappy I want to say something about Chris Ja...

Many of you know that I have been out of work for over 6 months. As luck would have it, tomorrow I have a very important job interview at 9:30 that could make or break my entire life. I want to say something here just in case the interview runs long and I cannot make the funeral tomorrow. I think Chris would understand.

I didn't know if I should post this here ot at Motown Muscle. I figured that since Chris was part of this site for quite a while, I'll just post it here. If someone wants to copy it and post it over at MM or anywhere else, that's fine by me.

I didn't know Chris as well as I like to think I did, but Chris was the kind of guy you didn't need to know very long to learn what he was all about. If you were a car guy, you were a friend of Chris'. He always seemed to be smiling and he was the kind of guy that was always ready to lend a helping hand.

When his health started to decline, he told me at M7 (or was it M6?) that it was going to be the last time he would be around for an M event. I just laughed a little bit and told him not to talk like that.

Sure enough, he was one of the first to show up at M8, and despite his discomfort, asked me what he could do to help. I was so stunned that all I could do was tell him to go in and have a good time.

That is just one example of how he was just a good guy. No one can dispute that.

Even when things got worse for him, you never heard him complain about it. He might have stated a few facts, but it was never a complaint. He still smiled and acted like the same Chris that we always knew. He never let us know if his illness was getting the best of him.
I still don't think it ever did.

Chris loved his f-bodies and I think my best memories of him are from the M Events. From now on, there will be a special award to remember Chris at the M Events. It will be the "Chris Jackson Memorial Award for Outstanding F-Body". I think it is the very least we could do to honor the best friend a car enthusiast could ever have.

....

Chris...
We love you very much and wish that we could have you around to turn wrenches with us, to laugh with us and to live with us. We're all going to miss you, brother.

You pretty much said it all, I never figured this would happen. I always thought that hed pull through and I wouldnt be sitting here typing this out..

First time I ever met Chris was out on Gratiot. I was racing an early 90's fox body 5.0 with a Alternative Auto Vortech kit when my car wasnt so modded. After barely beating him I noticed a white 96-97 WS6 formula following us. After marking the turn around I was in a race with the WS6. I remember beating him pretty good and then making a post about the next day right here. The 4th person to reply was Chris telling me it was a good race and how he liked my car. I ended up selling him some subframe connectors 2 weeks later for the very same car while working at Modern Musclecar (4 or 5 years ago).

Chris is/was a great guy, a REAL car guy. I am going to miss him.

Im Gonna post this on MM if you dont mind jason.

Nicely put jason. I agree. Chris was one of the nicest people ive spoken to. Everytime i had a conflict or problem with any of my cars, he was always one of the first ones to speak up and offer to lend a hand. I talked with chris on the phone about a yr ago for atleast a good hr..just talking about 3rd gens(when i owned mine) He was given me pointers..and even offered some parts i needed for free. I spoke with him briefly at the 3rd gen gathering we had on woodward. No matter his condition he was always fighting and never showed any sign of weakness. Me personally even though i didnt know him all that well...definitly made me look up to him in some way. I respected him and appreciated all his wisdom and tips he gave me. Today saddens me that i no longer will get the chance to continue our conversations we had. Chris will never be forgotten. I know i wont forget him..and i hope he always holds a spot in our hearts as an honest, hardworking, respectful people in out car community. God speed Chris..And R.I.P

I only met him twice. One time at the pinic then at M8. He walked up to me at M8 and offered to help clean my car off after driving in the rain all the way up there. I declined not because I didn't want him touching my car(he's probably the only one that I would let help) but because I had heard how sick he was and did not want him to use his valueable energy helping me. Instead I started talking to him about his car. Like mentioned earlier he never complained about the pain or sickness just the facts. I could only imagine the pain he was in but being the nice guy he was he still wanted to help others.

Thanks Chris, we will miss you.

I had the pleasure of meeting Chris on a few occasions. He did all of the polishing work on my motor last year, and we talked alot on the phone. One of the most knowledgable hotrod guys I ever met, and willing to go out of his way to help you. Last time I got to see him was at M8, and we spoke for about 10 minutes before he went to watch the races. Told me how things were going, and we talked shop. I will forever cherish the moments I got to spend with him, and the conversations we had. Never forget him calling me right before Autorama last year and asking me to get him photos of all the cars. I brought them to him and he was near tears he was so happy to see the photos. A very great man, and I will think of him everytime I open my hood. Fast times my friend.

Any of you guys picture him and Lingenfelter duking it out up there Great picture

It's to hard for me to put all my thoughts and memories of Chris into words. He was a great man who often cared about helping others rather then his own well being. His love for cars fell second only to his love for his family and friends. He will be missed

He was a great guy and will be greatly missed. I met him once or twice at his house running some parts from Quentin to him and what not, and he invited me in to talk cars and what not. He said he wasn't feeling too great but that he always loved to talk cars so I stayed for awhile and really enjoyed his company. RIP man. You'll forever be remembered as one of the good guys out there.
