Help With Trans Slippage Issue

Please See Sig For Car Detail.

I had a Fuddle 3800 converter with a 2.3 str installed about 2 months ago. Everything has been fine and not sure my current problem is related.

I was driving on the freeway coming home tonight and was in OD and put the gas to the floor. The car was slipping big time. I never noticed that before. The car seems fine out of the hole and from the a second gear hard launch. I will have to try it from a 3rd gear launch later tonight and see what happens. I did notice that after I did the OD routine a few times on the freeway then came to a stop I could smell some burning. I am not sure it was my car since when I stopped the car and got out about 5 mins later I didn't smell anything.

So, any idea on what this could be? Any way to easily check this type of thing out?

The car only has 22,000 miles on it so it is not a high miles. Also, the car has not been to beat up.

Is it odd for a car to only slip from an OD launch?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Bill

Re: Help With Trans Slippage Issue

that sucks bill. poss. its something in the tranny like a stuck solenoid or something and not needing a rebuild. but if it needs a rebuild I got a guy to send you to out in howell. the 3/4 clutch packs are notoriously (sp?) weak in the LT1 and older trans.s, not sure if they improved in that area in the later years. did it throw a check engine light? it should have. the pcm can tell if the trans slips cause it always compare's the input shaft speed to the output shaft speed and depending on what gear it is in it'll know if its out of range.

I took it back out tonight and it felt fine hitting it in OD from a 55MPH roll. It was at the 70-75mph mark that I had the problem. The converter hits hard still down low in first and second gear. No code but could deff. feel it slip badly hitting it at 70-75mph in OD.

Did you get my voice mail message? I'll call you tomorrow around 10am.

Thanks Chris!

GM did make changes to the 3-4 clutch pack in the newer version of the 4L60E along with other changes to cure the problems.Bill does your converter have lockup on it? Chris check the line pressure rise and solenoid functoin. Steven

Re: Help With Trans Slippage Issue

Chris remember what we did with my car???? Checking the line pressure and the tech 2 readings. Also check the line pressure thru the gears see if their is a drop off or if it looks out of spec.Check the solenoids to see if the 1-2, 2-3,3-4 are all working and also the 3-2 and lockup are all going on/off like they should.Call me if you need the specs.
