Found out why my #1 cylinder is dead
I checked for spark, I got spark.
I checked the compression and I have 0 compression while cranking and only 60 when it is running.
So the cylinder wanst dead after all just had really low compression.
We determined it wasnt a hole in the piston because i would have pressurized the crankcase and blew oil out everywhere.
It s not a ring problem because the car didnt smoke or use any oil on the 60 mile drive home from the track.
Pulled a valve cover and checked for any broken parts, none were found. Pulled the pushrods, they were straight as an arrow.
Stepped back thought a bit
..... The valves didnt look right for some reason, grabbed a straight edge and set it on top of the valves and BINGO the exhaust valve is sitting a good .150-.200 under the intake valve.
So we figure that part of my extremely melted sparkplug is welded is to the exhaust valve and will not let it close.
I guess a head and cam package is coming sooner than i expected.

Dam.. You might as well freshen up that tranny while you are at it. And let me use that convertor to see what it does different than the one I have. That would be interesting.
Any thoughts on a head & cam?
Sorry to hear that, but as you know, it's your opportunity to make it better. Answer your email on the rims.

I'll see what i can do on the convertor, I dont want to rip it out until i find out where im gonna store the car.
Im still in the air about the H&C. I might even dip into the shortblock if the funds allow.
The rims im gonna keep and throw bigger tires on them (maybe a 28" tire) when i do a rearend this winter.

Sorry to hear about your car!!!!
Just think How fast you will be on the other side.
I have a few questions for you. I just did my head, cam and computer retune. I was at Milan on Tuesday and ran a 12.2 @ 110.00(Bad 60' time at 1.75).
I wanted to know what brand Nitrous system you are running (wet or Dry)? I need to find one soon so I can get it on and run it before the end of the season. Is yours progressive? Do you hit it right off the line or wait until 2nd gear? Do you know of any used systems going around that would be good?
Also, I'm not sure the tires I have will get me much better, Nitto Drags 315/35/17's? What are you running on your car? Do you know if anyone makes an ET Street in a 17" or a Slick in a 17"?
Thanks,
Bill
