clutch problems...

yep this has nothing to do with a camaro or GM car for that matter...
my buddys 96 mystic cobra is having some problems and we dont know whats wrong. problem is the clutch is not disengaging. He will have the clutch pedal all the wa in and the car will be moving foward as if he had let off. We checked the linkage and it looked like the fork was working fine (cable system not hydrolic) throw out bearing was pushing on the fingers just fine. So we pulled the tranny and every thing looks fine. Any Ideas?

Re: clutch problems...

are the fingers bent poss.? not releasing the clutch disc fully? what about warped disc? are you sure the cable doesnt need to be adj.? or poss. its stretched?

Re: clutch problems...

It's a cable clutch Cory, no hydrauilc anything.

If you are sure the cable isnt broken and its pushing on the pp fingers, than either the pp is jacked or flywheel seriously warped. When you say the car moves, do you mean just a little, or it moves as if the clutch were out completely (car undrivable/unshiftable)?

Re: clutch problems...

odds are the fork is not moving far enough, most likely due to quadrant flex/wear, how far does the fork move?

if the clutch is fine, I would install an aftermarket clutch quadrant and cable

Im starting to think it is what you guys are saying. Cable or bent fork.
The clutch is a allmost brand new centerforce dual friction and the fingers all looked to be fine but ill take another look.

Re: clutch problems...

yeah, my money is on the quandrant. the stock ones are plastic, and I think they collapse or break or something like that. I know thats one of the first things most ford guys. if its like the 93 and older cars, have fun, its a pita to get to.
