the best way to find....

A leaking Injector... I was wondering if I pulled them all out of the manifold and left them in the fuel rail if I turned the Key forward to prime the fuel pump will the one stuck open spray or leak>?

Or if I turn the key to the on and off a couple times with out starting would the plug be wet?

I wouldnt keep waisting my time until I started with the OPTI. You said all of plugs were bad. So tell me how it "couldnt" be the opti?

TS..
every time you key on the fuel pump primes and the injectors also do a "prime". So if you do the test your gonna get fuel spray for a short burst.
I'd put a test guage on the fuel rail, do the key on so it primes and the pressure should "hold" and stay for 15 minutes. If it falls right off you have a bad injector and your method then would locate it.

Re: the best way to find....

well, since you said your 02's wouldnt swing, doesn that mean they are always saying rich? or do they say lean, makeing the pcm think it needs to hold open the inj.s longer? alot of times, if the o2sensors themselves go bad, that will happen. false lean reading and the pcm richens up the tune and viola, fouled plugs. if your fuel press. is holding steady and not dropping as HRH has suggested, then Id look at the 02 sensors next. but ofcourse there's lots of other things that can cause that too. int. mann. vac. leak, air leak past the maf sensor, ehx leak near the 02 sensors, on and on.

Re: the best way to find....

The 02 sensors are new... Ive re-wired the extensions twice...

Last year my Oil smelled like gas then when I hooked up the Tech II this year the only code I had was code 18 or 19 I think it was Injector circut.. We thought it was a ground...

The tips of the spark plugs look like charcoal...

Re: the best way to find....

By chance do you have one of those air fuel ratio guage in your car?
And if so did it get installed by taping into the factory o2 sensor wiring instead of installing its own o2 sensor?

Re: the best way to find....

good call there hawk. I had a guy bring his car by here a month ago with that exact same problem. one side was lean reading turned out to be a shorted gauge/ckt board bringin down the 02 voltage. unplug it and bam, good as new.

Re: the best way to find....

If you're O2's arent reading they are bad OR the wiring is faulty. No 2 ways about it. TRUST me on this one. I had it happen. If they're not swinging they aint working at all. I'm gonna bet that you have a .400 at all times reading causing a richened up mixture and an SES code with a surging idle for about 5-7 minutes?

Uhh... fix it.

I dunno, get O2 extentions... the ones that are pre made. Not saying yours dont work, maybe they dont though at least get a set to try out. If they still arent swinging... probably have bad O2's. Thats all I have.

Re: the best way to find....

before yo buy new02's, make sure you have 12v on one wire, and ground on the black wire. if you have power and ground to the 02, then it prolly is the 02 sensor. I;l try and remember to look up the wireing diagram to tell you wha wires should have what on them. then you'll know before spending any money if its the 02's, or the extensions. also, are you sure you didnt cross any wires when extending them?

Re: the best way to find....

Terminal at O2 Terminats at FUNCTION
A= Tan wire ================> C7 (ecm) =======> HO2S LOW
B= Purple===================> C8 (ecm) =======> HO2S HIGH
C= Black ===================> Ground stud at coil mount==> Engine Ground
D= Pink=====================> Fuse #11 under hood 10amp > 12 volt postive
Key on for power
Unplug sensor from harness and check for Voltage across c & d with Key in run position.

Restistance between C & D on O2 Sensor shold be between 3.5 and 14 OHMS if not sensor is bad. (heat element not functioning).

On harness side jumper tan and purple to ground and O2 Voltage on Tech tool or SCANMASTER should read below .2 volt (200mv)
if volt ok (YES) ..... bad connection at sensor or bad sensor.
if (NO)

Remove jumper
Key ON
ENGINE OFF
check purple wire on harness connector with meter, Voltage should be over .3 VOLT (300mV)
YES .. tan wire is open between harness connector and ecm, or bad conect at ecm connection.
NO.....purple wire is open between harness connector and ecm or bad conect at ecm connection.
