dude, you sound like every cop movie i've ever seen......nobody was saying being a policeman is easy, but the fact that it's a high stress, highly dangerous job doesn't mean they can make up the rules as they go. i, for one, have no idea what the proper procedure is when pulling over a dangerous suspect, but it should remain consistant in every situation.......which is why two more cops where killed a couple months ago in detroit, because the didn't follow procedure and the dude they pulled over shot them both........everybody's human, but going into that line of work is a choice, and if you can't handle it the right way then get yourself a desk.........

I understand that it's a "high stress" job, and it's a choice. Unfortunately cops are sometimes put in a situation where they might have to put a gun to someones head. You can't sit there and honestly say that if you were pulling over a car that you thought could possibly be one who killed a cop, that you would handle that situation any different. You would quickly change your mind if someone has ever shot at you trying to take your life. I understand it's a choice, but it's not part of the job to die. Detroit has lost around 45 officers in the last 15 years because of a**holes like this guy. If you ever experienced something like thier partners or families did, you would think different. Just my .02. I know everyone wouldn't agree.

Red, orange, Camaro, Firebird. They all seem to fit the 'description'. The incident was aired on Americas Most Wanted Sat night, yea, I know, I need to get a life. They said the perp is a suspected bank robber who wanted a handgun to rob banks because the shotgun he alledgely uses is too bulky. Theyre going to get this guy even if he is hiding in Aruba.

It's a good thing I have a white one. I fit that description too and I was just out for a cruise in Rochester Hills yesterday for the first time in a couple weeks. so I guess I am lucky to not get hassled since it's not red. I think I only actually saw maybe one cop on the road. Oh yeah and I gettin on it a little since I hadn't driven it in a couple weeks

I cant figure out why the cops even think he is stupid enough to drive when pictures of his car are posted everywhere (just saw it in a restaurant today) The guy would be a dummy to drive that thing the way it is. $5 says he dumped the camaro and is cruising around in a stolen dodge omni by now.

nice assumption.......chances are i've been shot at more(once) than the cops who pulled the gun, and chances are even greater that my wife has actually been hit by more bullets(just one) than these guys.......yeah, detroit has a problem with cops getting shot, but a lot of that problem stems to shoddy training and therefore bad reaction in high stress situations, and even worse than that, not handling what should be routine situations well......i like the one a month ago were they started shooting a mastiff up in a populated neigbhorhood.........a guy holding his baby had a bullet go by his head and hit the mirror in his bathroom...another guy had his garage shot up, with shots nearly hitting a cannister of gasoline........they said the dog charged them, although gun shot wounds were all in the back of the dog and eyewitnesses said is was running away from them......they said the dog was friendly, just large.........nice work guys......

Once again, easy for you to sit there and find everything they did wrong when you weren't their. They have a second to react to things, and you have a month to tear it up. The news won't tell you the whole story, they will tell you what you want to hear, and that's how the police fu**ed up. And of course there were witnesses who want to be on tv and tell their story. It's their 15 seconds of fame. It's obvious we will not agree on the situation, so I'll just drop it. I'm sure everyone on the board is tired or reading about it anyway.

Well, I for once am glad I'm short! I drive a red 94 Camaro. I'm only 17 and 5'6'' so they haven't even bothered me once. My license plate is also MEISSEN, so I doubt they'd get it confused with the suspect's. I haven't gotten pulled over yet, but while I was driving around on 10 mile coming up to Ryan, a cop followed me from 10 mile into a plaza and then when I pulled into a parking space infront of the cleaners that I was going to, the cop stopped his car right behind mine and just sat there. So I get out of my car, sporting my PETsMART uniform (haha yeah, I don't think I fit the description at all) and walk into the cleaners and come out, the cop had parked on the opposite end of the plaza and was still sitting there watching me. Persistant little pest. Regardless, I figured after he realized I didn't fit the description he'd follow me until I did something against the law so he could ticket me. In any case, I have passed many cops by on the road and surprisingly enough that haven't even bothered me at all. At that, I've sped past cops while they've radared me and they actually look out their passenger window as I drive by. I've noticed giving them a nod and a wave while you drive by seems to put them at ease. Ah well, just my 2 cents on the topic.

They probably think you're an off-duty cop if you're waving at them. Otherwise a red Camaro is cop-bait all day long

Haha I dunno, I guess I've just been lucky. In the almost two years that I've been driving my '94 red Camaro (and driving it quite liberally when the speed limit is concerned, normally doin 10 to 15mph over..) I've never been pulled over. It's kinda funny though, the only time I've been pulled over is driving a yellow Cavalier and the cop wasn't concerned with my speeding 10 over, he was pulling me over because the car had tinted windows. Thankfully it was a friend's car and the cop was really nice, let me go with just a warning. Even after I handed him an expired insurance card.
