The only thing to watch on the Taurus's, is the wiring pigtail is short and the wires have a tendancy to pull out of the connector and or break.I just had to repair one of those harnesses last week at work.It made it so that the car was really hard to get out of park due to the intermitent short caused by the harness. If you just rested your foot on the pedal,it would come out really easy but if you put full pressure on it, it would pull the wire far enough away to cause a open not letting it come out of park cause there was no BOO signal.Hope this helps you out.

James,
This was exactly the problem. Cars fixed, thanks
again for your help.

Sure did. Replaced an alternator in a 91 Econoline Club Wagon out in the cold today....and the sucker is still giving a low reading.

You think the current Ford cars are packed tight? Try working on the 05-07 cars and trucks. Its only getting worse.

Don't say that!!!!! ARGH!!!!. Just went on a tour of Fords Experimental Garage last week and saw some new cool stuff but really did'nt check out under the hoods on most of them other than the 05 Mustang with a 5.4 3 valve motor in it.That car sounds like fun.................

Kevin,

Glad I could help you out. That really is a pretty common problem on the Taurus.I also had a State cop car (Crown Vic) come in for the same thing this weekend at work.I of corse had to test drive the vehicle to verify the repairs it is amazing to see the way people react/actions when you are on the other side looking out at them from the blue cruiser.I took it down some back roads and you can see oncoming cars front ends almost scraping the ground from them jumping on the brakes so hard. Then after they go by i hit the brakes a few times to scare the crap out of them.Driving a state cop car is quite entertaining. One of these days I will see one of my buddies cruising through town when I am driving one.I'll have to turn around a tail him/her for a little bit . And just so every one knows. NO I DID NOT TURN THE LIGHTS OR SIREN ON.Some one did that before and got fired for it..It's hard to fight the urge, but just can't do it.

James
