Kevin,
I am a Ford Tech. And if I remember correctley, There is a hairpin clip that holds the switch to the brake pedal.Pull the clip and it will come right off.The only thing to watch on the Taurus's, is the wiring pigtail is short and the wires have a tendancy to pull out of the connector and or break.I just had to repair one of those harnesses last week at work.It made it so that the car was really hard to get out of park due to the intermitent short caused by the harness. If you just rested your foot on the pedal,it would come out really easy but if you put full pressure on it, it would pull the wire far enough away to cause a open not letting it come out of park cause there was no BOO signal.Hope this helps you out.If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.I don't know it all and have only been a tech for a short time but I will help in any way I can.

James

PS. Is this the #6 Mark Martin car from Stanton or the other one

James,
thanks for the reply.....
I had the issue narrowed down to the switch,
but found conflicting information as to where it was
located. My Haynes manual shows it on top of the
transaxle. This didn't make sense , hence the post.
I'm gonna pick one up on the way home. I'll post
to let you know how it goes.
BTW
This is on the wife's 24V.
Thanks again
Kevin

I see that you are Chrysler Gold Certified.how hard was that/how long did it take you to get to that level?? The Dealer that I work for is a Ford,Lincoln,Mercury and Jeep dealer. No one at our shop is Chrysler certified so I would like to achieve that level.I am in the process of finishing my ford training then am going to move on to the Chrysler training and would like to know what to expect.

Jim,

We really don't see any probes in the dealer anymore.I am a fairly new tech and hav'nt had to work on the probes to much. When I was in Arizona at a independant shop we had a customer who had a probe gt with the 24 valve DOHC motor. If thats what you have all I have to say is have fun!! Those are packed in there pretty tight.Sorry I could'nt be of more help to you.

You think the current Ford cars are packed tight? Try working on the 05-07 cars and trucks. Its only getting worse.
