Re: Slp Day!!!

while i wasn't able to bring my car (had to run to mufflex right before so i needed the beater to pick up some parts), i had a load of fun. going to meets like this is what makes it a joy to own a car with a large following IMO. i did the same thing with the supras, but boy, NEVER to the magnitude of cars that i saw there today. i had a great time and would gladly go back. with i saw some more LT1s, that was the only disappointment my friend and myself had. two thumbs up.

Re: Slp Day!!!

Wishing I went to SLP Day, I stayed in school for a school car show. It ****ing sucked, crappy weather and I didn't win anything (to my knowledge). I left after first prize was given to each level of cars, I figured I didn't win though.

i thought slp day was great i had a blast...only downpart for me was fedex screwed me over on friday night and didn't deliver my new hoosiers...so i got stuck running on a set of bald nitto's....i still managed a 12.7 @113.2 w/ a 2.1 60 ft....oh well there's always next year to get a good run in....i agree though...the ls1's defintley outnumbered the lt1's by far.....

SLP day was a bit smaller than last year. But still had a blast. Ran some decent times as well.

Re: Slp Day!!!

I had a good time. Didnt perform all that well but... theres is always next time. First time run was a mess. I started out with 19psi in the tires(where the car normally hooks just fine), launched fairly easy and blew the tires off it. 20. 60' 12.9x or so. Second time run I dropped em to 13. hooked it pretty good but still only a 1.67 60'. 12.39 @108. The MPH is off i think because of the tire pressure being so low.

first round I redlighted. The other car was a 15.xx dial and he cut a .550 light. But I tried to play hero and cut a good light anyway... got anxious waiting for the tree and jumped the gun. -.040 redlight, DOH!!!

All in all it was fun. Except for the $#@%#%@ who parked his car behind my trailer and blocked my pit for almost 30 min. I had to have security page the dude over the pa system to move his stupid car! I always thought it was common sense... if there is a truck, trailer, ramps, chairs, and a cooler sitting there... doesnt that usually mean the pit area is being used by somone? @$@#@%%@&@#!!!!!!

Re: Slp Day!!!

We just got home from SLP Day in NJ!!!! It was awesome!!!!! It was over a 500 Mile drive, one way for us. I think we were one of the farthest cars there. I did not see any other plates from any farther then us from Ohio.
I highly recommend it next year.

Re: Slp Day!!!

i cant complain. i won the $300 gift certificate. YEAHYEAH

i had some lousy runs, but i knew that was gonna happen by the way alot of cars were running, especially the ls1s. several running 14's and and many running very low mph. even saw a the vettes and z06s running 13s, stock or near stock vettes running mid 13s and one ls1 vette had a dial in time of 14.00.
BUT i was scared to break the rear and i am still on a stock clutch....but compared to many mph, i think i was up there

best run was only a 12.7 at 115.2 but then again, i was on a street tire and i could only cut a 2.2 60ft. didnt see too many mph's higher than that, so that was a good sign but not what i expected out of the car. i ended up losing round 2 by .021.

definitly going next year!

Re: Slp Day!!!

A fine race day it was for the LT1 97 TA (#4090).
Dial-in 13.90, r/t .098, 60' 2.019 for a 13.921 win
Dial-in 13.90, r/t .172, 60' 2.105 for a 14.009 win
Then I red lighted.

Ran on daily driver street tires, so there was tire spin off the line with the new 3.42 gears. Plus I wasn't playing my Ghost Riders in the Sky CD. But I still managed to be in the groove for the day.

I gave some $$$ to ProjectZ28 so he was my friend for the day, which was cool. So he help me move my last run dial in up to 13.95 which I ran a 14.102 on. Too bad I left on the third amber light... so I wasn't into as hard. Brian also suggested that maybe if I take off the splash guards I might get .2 on the track.

Big shock to see the ProjectZ28 clean AND waxed. I think Brian lighten the car by a good ten pounds when he scraped the rubber off the bottom the rear quarters.

Still, it's always a joy to meet up with everyone and play on the track. Sorry that I ended up knocking two decent F-bodies out of the F-Body versus Mustang runs, but there wsan't enough Mustangs for us to run against. Next time let me up in front of the lanes so I can do the damage on our pony friends.

Re: Slp Day!!!

Had some fun picking on a whole load of V8's

12.16
12.18
Wussy 1.7 60's though

Anyone here any of the V8's I beat?

I wimped out and was a bit nervous launching on the 125 shot for the first time.

The 100 shot got me high 1.5's spinning.

Re: Slp Day!!!

Its a was a fine race day, too bad I coulnt get to figure out how to launch my new combination. With a lousy 2.3 60' I mananged a 12.76 @ 114 with the 396. The SLP line lock that I finished installing just a few hours before I drove down is my new favorite toy! Man does that thing make heating up a set of Nitto's fun. I was launching it too easy, and the Spec stage 3 clutch isnt eactly the easiest to slip out. What did SLP's yellow GTO end up running? I was in the staging lanes most of the day, never made it to the stands to watch. So it seems like everyones MPH was down yesterday? It was humid as hell when I woke up, the Metro channel reported over 90% humidity in most areas. Oh well, time to hit a test and tune night and try to get this thing in the low 12's/high 11's where it should be.

Re: Slp Day!!!

damn i was looking for your car in the parking lot with my friend, your mph really caught my eye i wanted to have a look at your setup. from the looks i'd say you've got quite a combo, great looking car.
