Re: Slp Day!!!

I was great to see a lot of old friends. Went out first round with a .-0.19 red. Saw my red and just ran it out to a 14.761 on a 14.79 dial. Good part it was still early and made the 2 hour drive home with the top down. Maybe next year?

Re: Slp Day!!!

Was a good day..
I won round one with a 13.702 on a 13.68 dial
Lost 2nd round with a rather bad R/T of .185 [I am a bit 'gunshy' now since I lost the semi final of the EFI shootout by redlighting.. funny how the mind works.. ]Car ran pretty good [consistant]
I am slightly consoled by the fact that the guy that beat me went on to the semi final round..

Re: Slp Day!!!

You guys have some good looking and running cars. I had a personal best as well with a 10.47 @ 131. I thought it was a mistake when the guy handed me the slip. I didn't get an N/A run so I ran brackets on the spray. Dialed a 10.60 and redlighted so I ran it out the back and went 10.47 again. At least I backed up my best pass.

Re: Slp Day!!!

Yeah thats it. Thanks. I wasn't sure if I was the fastest or not. I wanted to run a heads up class but it didn't look like they had one, although I read that flyer they handed out after I left and it said there was a king of the track something. Anyone know if they ran a headsup at the end?

Me feels your pain, my first round was a -.039. I was dialing a 10.60 and the other guy was a 13.80. It seemed like he was at the 1/8th before my light came down. It got me good.

Re: Slp Day!!!

Dave i didnt even see you there. There were so many cars and people that I think it was hard to know who was who. I even said I was going to write my screen name on the back window, but I never did.

Its hard to race someone who is that much slower. sometimes the wait just throws you off. The key is to just watch you tree and not him. If your dialed in right you will catch em... I know this and have done it many times but even regular racers get a little anxious once and a while. Part of it was that I knew I could beat 90% of the cars there in bracket racing.

I really didnt like the class breakdown. I wanted to run with other slick tire cars butthere was no class for it. I had some traction problems with all teh radial tires on the track. I never dropped tire pressure to 13psi before

Re: Slp Day!!!

Hey Disturbed, looks like we have some pretty simmilar mods done to our cars. I think the next GM High Tech Shootout is near the end of this month. We should get a group of us together and drive down or organize a location at the track for all of us to meet up and hang out. N20Dave, I think I saw you run a few cars in front of me when I was in the staging lanes, that is one nasty ride you got, makes me want to spray Lets get something together guys, Im in for it.

Having the "slow" car didn't help me. Brian, having the faster car is an advantage. First red looses and the race is all in front of you. Nothing like looking over your shoulder watching a 10 second car come down on your slow 15 second butt. Again, nothing like putting that 10 second car back on the trailer. Maybe I'll do a little better in the EFI race on the 23rd. I'll try not to get too anxious.

Re: Slp Day!!!

Thanks guys. It was a fun day. I really wanted to go to the GM EFI race but it's not gonna happen. I've got a schedule to keep for an event in May and it's going to take some time to get these SB2.2 heads I've got laying here to work . Good luck to all who makes it there. Maybe I'll come and watch even if the car's torn apart by then.

As a side note, it's porbably a good thing I didn't make another pass, the opti is going and the serp belt shredded some ribs on that last run. Opti going and alternator not working on spray = very bad things.
